They sent me a quote of $280 for 1 bedroom set and a couch on the third floor. I had them email me this in writing and schedule for pick up at 5 the next day. I was called at three and was told they can pick up early. I left work early but they were 2 hrs late because the drivers stopped at McDonalds for dinner. The driver was charging me for things not discussed by Sophie who runs the office and scheduled my pick up. Because if this miscommunicatin my pick up was delayed for another hour. Note: they do not send professional movers. They took their sweet time wrapping my things and moving them downstairs. It was very fustrating watching them make phone calls and sit and relax while on my clock. Now it's about 11 and the driver calls someone that is off site to get a final price which went from $280 to $900! I was in SHOCK! They already loaded my things and stated if I do not pay I would be charged $295 per night for storage. Well the next day I had to take more time off of work to speak to Sophie who admitted herself it was a ridiculous charge. They did take some charges off but then added a long cary charge of $140 and a stair chage of $70 even though I made them aware of the third floor and was guaranteed they would only charge me a one time fee of $70. I talked them down to $600 but only because Sophie hinted my furniture would be put up for auction. Now on top of this I am being charge a $75 late fee for my monthly storage payment of $70. The contract does not state when payment is due so I emailed and called to find out this info with no repsonse. So I sent in my payment. Sophie called me and said she did not receive it. I sent in a second check certified mail this time and magically she recieved my first check. I have a feeling she will cash both. I'm waiting to see. I have never felt so ripped off before by a company. I have filed complaints and will continue to do so to prevent this from happening to anybody else.

After sending in my first payment which they claimed not to receive I decided to send in all paymenst certified mail. After several months the time it took to go to the post office and the extra money spent on sending it certified to a toll on me so I decided to make my payment directly to their company bank which is Bank of America. After making my May payment I informed Sophie the "supervisor" that I made my payment. Because she didn't see the deposit in her system she stated she didn't believe me and that I needed to fax her the receipt so I did and she still did not believe me. At this point I simply could not take her unprofessionalism anymore and decided the extra money I would need to spend was worth me moving our of there to be in peace. This is after she did not keep the 3rd month free offer and told me it was the 4th month free.
On the fourth month she called me and stated why did I not send it payment. I told her she stated herself I would get the fourth month free which she then replied a written letter was required. When I thought it couldn't get more ridiculous it did. So not it's time for me to move out. They have my things in a warehouse with everybodys elses items and garbage! The only way to distinguished my things from other's belonging was a piece of paper with my name taped to my items. They moved my things 5 feet from the warehouse and charged me 200.00 dollars to do this. They also lost some of my items. It was the worst experience I ever had with a company. Please be warned. Do you research!
P.S. To the Sally from NY her gave her great advice...get a clue woman. You must be one of them.

Jodi, the cheapest price isn't always the way to go.

Jodi,
As an intelligent women surely you called around for several estimates.
Most companies charge approx. $125.00 per hour, a one hour drive time and a fuel sur charge PLUS a charge for stairs/elevators additional services/ over sized items.
Although you didn't state the distance you were moving- it's clear you went with who gave you the cheapest estimate.
It's unreasonable to expect that any company would move a Bedroom Set and a Sofa from the 3rd floor w/ stairs for $280.00! Which you probably already knew when you hired them. Any company that is properly licensed, hires properly trained employees, employes a dispatcher to oversee the daily scheduling, uses vehicles that are properly maintained (for not only the safety of your furniture but the public as well, has proper insurances and all the other 100's of things that go along with operating a moving company can not charge $280.00 to sent two men out to move ANYTHING! It's just unreasonable.

Stop payment on your second check! Don't give her a chance to get more of your money.
