My daughter was under our Alltel family plan but had her own seperate bill that was mailed to her at her address. My husband and myself were billed to our address. Our month ago, our phones were shut off because her bill was past due. We call and said she doesn't even live with us and why was our phones shut off too? They appologized for the misunderstanding and reconnected us. A week later our phones are shut off again! We call and were told ours wouldn't be turned back on until her bill was paid. We switched to Sprint and told them to leave them off. My daughter pays the bill a few days later and also told them not to reconnect her phone.

We get a bill in the mail a few days later for a re-connect fee and so did my Daughter. We call again and say our phones were never re-connected. We were told that since we wanted to keep our same phone numbers they (Alltel) had to reconnect our phones in order to transfer the numbers over to Sprint. What a crock of chit. My husband told them we would not be paying that fee and they said they would take us to a collection agency. He said 'go ahead because you won't get another dime from us'.

I'm so glad we are done with Alltel. They took towers down and we have now have 'dead zones' where with Midwest wireless we had service.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

CORRECTION!!

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Correction!!

Jac's had the right idea but a little bit of an incorrect detail. The account numbers would have remained different in this case since they are separate accounts. Now with that being said. . .

Both accounts were under one person's name and social security number. Meaning that the account owner (the parents) will take FULL RESPONSIBILITY of ALL lines registered under that person's credit, no matter what. Just like any other institution that requires credit to apply for a service or product. Isn't that how credit works?

I understand that it can be frustrating that Alltel would disconnect your lines since your daughter made the mistake of not keeping up with her bills. But unfortunately, you signed and agreed to take FULL RESPONSIBILITY at the opening of the account. It would be in the company's best interest to disconnect your line until that issue is resolved since it technically is YOUR account.

Also, as far as the reconnection fees; the representative that handled your account should have been fair enough to waive those for you, since you were not going to continue service anyways. You were unfortunately put in a tough situation with a representative that was not willing to work with you. Life sucks, right?

I hope this helped.

Jacs -
Sorry to hear about your bad time with Alltel. The only way that SHOULD have happened was if your daughter was listed under the SAME account number. If she didn't live with you and if you didn't want to be responsible for her paying her bill on time, you should have put her on a seperate account (different account numbers). Problem solved.

Also, I hope you are getting good signal on your cellphones since you switched...especially since guess who's cell towers you are pulling service from :D

Take care!
