Amazon.com was once the darling of all small business owners, would be entrepreneurs, inventors, dreamers etc. Many of us committed deeply to this belief that a true and free marketplace had opened for all sellers. That dream has now dissapated into a nightmare of bankruptcies, store closures, angry sellers that beleived that Amazon was a true free open flea market to the world. The simple truth is that while we were feeding the growing "dragon" with our products, wit, and commissions they were using the money to buy companies that would put us out of business. Online bookstores, shoe stores, electronic stores...you name it. Now the end is near, another American dream down the drain. Where in God's name is the Federal Trade Commission in all this. Not only are they the retailer, distributor (fullfill ment programs) and the manufacturer (the kindle is publishing)...they are also the marketplace (mall, flea market) where we all sell. Amazon.com has single handledly taken over the world and shafted us at the same time.
The retail control of the internet mirrors the retail landscape of the United States of America. Once again, our crappy government has allowed the large to destroy the small. You don't have to go far in time to remember when there was at least one bookstore in every town. Not to mention a hardware store, a toy store, a barber shop with a guy who's name you knew, a stationary store, etc. The list can go on forever. As a matter of fact more than 50% of the middle class was self employed. People passed family businesses down to their children.
The minute this country allowed a company to own two parts of the distribution chain...it was over (The distribution chain is basically manufacturing, distribution and retail.) Call me stupid but if I control 2 parts of any chain what does that make me... Yes it makes me a powerful monopoly because now that 3rd part has to yeild to what ever I say.
Getting back to Amazon.com, they are part of the fourth dimension in retail or fourth part of the distribution chain. They are not only the 3 parts of the orginal chain but they are the fourth part. The mall we pay rent to. The flea market that lease us space.
If there is a constitutional lawyer out there with balls and a lot of free time...you can save America. We the sellers and buyers (mainly the American people) need to boycott Amazon.com and all its subsidiaries. Not doing so will continue to put us on the track away from entrepreneurship and towards being under paid employees and eventually when were bankrupt...indentured slaves.

I am updating this because to date Amazon.com continues to monopolize industries. In particular the book business is suffering greatly from this controlling entity called Amazon.com. If this company is not soon controlled they will eradicate all booksellers.
