I was told in the beginning Sept. '08' that AFC would stop the calls, mail, etc... from my creditors.  I was also told that when a co. was ready to settle that they would take their payments if I didnt have enought saved yet and put it to pay off my cards and they would just extend my program.

What actually happened... The first settlement and only offer I got from AFC was in Feb. and I had only saved $200 since AFC takes the first 4 $200 payments and then $100 for the next 14 months.  I asked AFC about putting their money towards paying off my card and they responded ofcourse with, "No we never said that we would use our fees to pay off your cards" Bull Sh**!

Next I got an email in March from FIA Card Servies which is BOA's collecting dept., and they had an offer to settle with me for 25 cents on the dollar.  Wow! Why had AFC not contacted me with this offer I asked?.. BOA said that they had not been contacted one time from AFC and I was already six months in the program. I settled with BOA on my own.

Now I cancelled the program and put stop payment on their fees and am requesting a refund and Joel Knapp is telling me that they had 4 of 6 offers and he feels that they did their job! Again Bull Sh**! They did not have any contact with BOA until after I questiones AFC why BOA was contacting me and had not received this offer from them(AFC).

Overall I would not reccomend this company to anyone! They are really nice and contact you often in the beginning to get you in, hook line and sinker.  Then you try calling and they are always on another line and they dont have Voicemail! REALLY!

I cannot believe that AFC finally had something to say... Again I will repeat the FACT that i had an email from BOA(FIA card Svcs.) long before March 31, 2009 and the only reason that AFC is saying that they had an offer for me on March 31 is because I called AFC to ask why they themselves had not brought this deal to the table.  I was not hostile on the phone until after Joel and the receptionist hung up on me and then repeatedly called me a LIAR.  They obviously are not ran on the principle of customer service and that the Customer is always right! I just cannot believe after all the money they received from me how rudley I was treated! I am over it! and over AFC! I am on my way out of debt no thanks to AFC.  PLEASE whoever reads this stay away from American Financial Concepts as they promise you the world, and then in actuality they return nothing and run away with your money that could have easily paid off a card or two! DO NOT USE AMERICAN FINANCIAL CONCEPTS! (AFC)

Response to Evelyn's complaint

Evelyn Thorstens enrolled 6 debts into a settlement program here with AFC.  We never promised to stop the calls as she states.  We let her know both verbally and in writing that typically, the calls in a settlement program continue for some time, but we did promise to help her deal with the collection calls because they are very stressful for our clients.

We did promise to arrange/negotiate settlements for her six accounts.  We successfully negotiated settlement offers for 4 of her 6 accounts before she chose to leave the program prematurely.  These offers are detailed below:

BoA-4263, 25% offer on 3/31/09 (Settlement officer, Sandra W. creditor contact: Mike Kelly at BoA)

BoA-8244, 25% offer on 3/31/09 (Settlement officer, Sandra W. creditor contact: Mike Kelly at BoA)

Chase-0837, 40% offer on 02/10/09

Old Navy-1892, 30% offer on 11/06/08

Evelyn chose to believe that she somehow negotiated with Bank of America on her own and leave the program before we were able to assist her further.  She also became vulgar on the phone, using profane language, as her own complaint here suggests.
