i was in bad shape financially. i was desperate and needed help. i contacted AFC in good faith. i signed up with AFC in good faith. i allowed AFC into my bank account in good faith. What an idiot i was! i'm not a bad guy. i fell it to hard times ,like so many people do these days. i was looking for someone, anyone to help me make sense out this mess. they said all the right things...........but what they did was something else.
no settlement offers, no return calls, no anything. so i started calling my creditors, because i really wanted to make it right. AFC had never contacted anyone. sure those at AFC tell you "they all say that", but AFC also told me( after i cancelled any further payments to them)they tried to contact me with several settlement offers but were unable to reach me.i gotta tell ya in this day and age doesn't AFC realize that anyone can check phone records........guess not!
i went back 6months on my cellphone bill(which is the only phone i have) and was unable to find any incoming phone calls from AFC. however, when they were unable to snatch any more funds from my bank account, they were miraculously able to reach me, to ofcourse, ask "so jeff, what's up?"(so professional...lol).
to make things even funnier this joel guy hung up on me, cause he didn't like me talking over him.i proceeded to tell joel that i was reporting AFC to consumer affairs and contacting the Attorney General's office. he actually asked me "what can i do for you not to do that?". this company is bad news.
i will actively pursue retrieving any and all funds from AFC. i will file a complaint against them with Consumer Affairs and contact the NYS Attorney General.
I will settle my accounts myself, i will regain control of my finances and put my faith back where it belongs..............in myself and the big guy in the sky!

sorry you were also a victim of those AFC b******s. it was necessary for me to go down to my bank and fill out a form to block any future access by AFC to my account. just blocking/stopping payment for the amount, over the phone is enough. if they deduct $60 a month, then all they'd have to do is deduct $60.01 and they'd get it. if it is an electronic payment, go down to your bank branch with the company name and address. fill out the form and the block is on. then those snakes will contact you, cause they can't get any more money.
for any more help, please feel free to drop me a line............good luck

I have been paying them $60 a month for almost 2 years and no calls for settlement options. It is hard to get ahold of them and they have even taken money out of a different account of mine. I would love to know how you were able to stop the money coming out as I see now that this is all a scam!!! Please help!!!

Response to Jeffrey's complaint

Jeffreys complaints about AFC and our program are something that we take seriously. Here at AFC, we strive for not only local, state, and national compliance, but for excellent customer service. We process over 5,000 clients with a high success rate, settlement activity, and a minimal number of complaints. We have 6 departments that provide our clients and their creditors service and we provide toll-free numbers for communication and support. The level of service that we provide our clients is something that we take much pride in.
Debt settlement is a legitimate and honorable method of debt resolution that allows thousands of people to resolve their debts who cannot afford consolidation programs, and without having to resort to bankruptcy.
Jeffery contacted us in November of last year and after hearing about our debt settlement program, requested to enroll. He signed up for a four-year debt settlement program, where we did agree to contact his creditors and negotiate settlements on his behalf, which would allow him to get out from under his debt burdens quickly and affordably.
It is unfortunate that he feels that AFC scammed him, especially considering the settlement offers that we achieved for him. Jeffery enrolled three accounts, and we achieved viable, if not attractive settlement offers on two of them before he decided to quit the program in September of this year. These settlement offers are detailed below:
-HSBC- balance: $4,675.42 offer: $1,963.68 settlement broken into 3 monthly payments, offer reached on 5/28/09, creditor contact, Joe (800) 283 8335, settlement officer: Eustolia G.
-Washington Mutual- balance: $8,767.57 offer, $3,945.41 settlement offer reached on 8/27/09, creditor contact, Sasha, (888) 305 8101 ext 23311, settlement officer: Melodee T.
He was called multiple times at both the numbers he provided us on his enrollment packet (available upon request) regarding the settlement offers and messages were left for every call placed. The third account enrolled was a second HSBC account. We did not yet have an offer for this HSBC account, but given the success of his other two accounts, it is a safe assumption that had Jeffery decided to stay with the four year program he signed up for instead of electing to leave early, we would have been able to achieve a settlement offer on this account as well. If not, Mr. Sxxxxxxxx would have been entitled to take advantage of our service guarantee, which states that if we are unable to settle an enrolled account, we will credit the service fees paid in relation to that particular account. Mr. Sxxxxxxxxs decision to leave the program prematurely voids this guarantee.
Mr. Sxxxxxxxx claims that AFC never contacted his creditors. This is no doubt what his creditors told him. Our clients creditors and collectors routinely make claims such as theyve never have heard from us and they dont work with us in an effort to convince our clients to leave the program and start making monthly payments again. It appears their efforts were successful in this case. Which is unfortunate because we not only claim to have been in contact with Mr. Sxxxxxxxxs creditors, but have two very good settlement offers as proof.
We do remain sensitive to all of our clients needs and we do consider all reasonable requests. After thoroughly reviewing Jeffery Sxxxxxxxxs account, weve come to the conclusion that we have earned all fees that have been collected. Therefore, he is not due a refund. It is apparent that we have delivered on all promises and met our contractual obligations. An invitation remains open to him to call us and resolve any concerns that he may have.
