I just heard on the 10'oclock news that here in Texas a man doing electrical work found hundreds of personnel files of previous employees at the Irving AIL office. In the Dumpster behind their rented office space in a complex of other offices with access to those dumpsters.
FINGERPRINTS, copies of Insurance Licenses, Social Security cards, Drivers Licenses, references and their personal contact information. Who knows what else. A former employee was called and he verified that it was authentic. The files were taken to the local CBS Channel 11 TV station.
They gave it to the Irving Police. They are now in the property room. This is against the Identity Police Theft Law. Although the TV station tried to contact both the Irving and Waco offices, no one would answer the door or telephone. The picture they showed of a reporter going to the door of the Irving Office. It was dark. I worked for that office, and they had my exact same personal information. The TV cameras shot close-ups of some fingerprints and Drivers Licenses. In addition, the huge file boxes of the hundreds of files of former employees. They are going to call the Attorney General.
I am all for a class action. Just last night I spent hours looking at American Income Life stories. They solicited me with an email saying that if I were honest, dependable, like to do the right thing, etc. they would like to employ me. I went there, looking for work, and found out after sitting in the waiting room for a couple of hours that I would need an agent's license to work for them. I hate to admit my stupidity, but I bought their book for $20 studied it intently and took the test. Not one question on that test was covered in the book. I had to take it again and again. I got my license, and only then, they told me I was supposed to sell the stuff. I am an artist not a salesman. I did try. I sold my first pitch, and my Daughter. That was the extent of it.
The problem with leads, they said, was there were too many. The first ones they gave me were a hundred miles away and 26 miles apart. They were set for 5:00 and it was 5:30 when I got them. The only training was 45 minutes during which I was told I was never going to make it. And going out with one of their top salesmen for three nights. His had 4 to 6 leads in a four-block square each night. We sold almost all of them. They promised me money for going with the agent because I helped close the deals. I am still waiting. Our Business cards said General Agent not Independent Sales Rep.
They persuaded me that the best leads were the people who were hard to get in touch with. They were the ones to really spend the money. I found out why they were never caught up with. No one could find the addresses. More times than not, the leads had Street names and the street markers went by Farm Roads. Being a relentless pursuer, I went many times and not one was ever home. I spoke with one lady 50 miles away and set an appointment for the next day. I drove out there and the only place it could have been was a very long snaky gravel road. I called her before I drove my car down that road where you could not see the end. She said she had never talked to me. I am very good at telling voices. I know she had agreed the day before. She had the same voice. I wasted several months of my life, my money, my car, my gas, and food, on chases like that. Not to mention emotional stress.
We were not told to lie to the people. We were lied to. I honestly believed we represented the Unions, and were there because they had filled out the card, which was given to them by their union. I was a Union Council Rep and Area Rep and Ombudsman for my Union, the Seattle Professional Engineering Employees while I worked for Boeing 20 years. So, it felt natural to slip back into that role.
I have let my license expire. At least three times a week, I get solicitation from other ins. companies, and they all promise the moon, stars and Solar System. Millionaires, Cruses, vacations and other benefits. I believe they are all rackets. Making money from the agents.

How does someone from Ohio know the law in Texas?

How would you like for your personal confidential information to show up in a public dumpster? And, the personal confidential information of your references?
I did hear a clarification yesterday, that "the Irving office said they placed it in the garbage accidentally. It is really their procedure to shread this kind of information."
Obviously, their shreader must have been on the blink for 1 1/2 years, as the dates on the files went back that far. I will add however, that it was "a hundred" files, rather than "hundreds" of files.

WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE STATE EXAM. NOR DOES ANY OTHER INSURANCE COMPANY. I'M SO SICK OF READING THINGS ABOUT "THEY MADE ME SPEND MONEY TO GET MY LICENSE". THAT IS STATE LAW. AND AS FAR AS OTHER INSURANCE COMPANIES CALLING YOU- THEY ARE GETTING YOUR NAME FROM THE STATE, NOT US.
AND AGAIN AS I'VE SAID BEFORE, THE LEAD SITUATION MUST JUST BE OTHER AGENCIES BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM AND NEVER HAD IN 6 YEARS. READING ALL THIS JUST MAKES ME REALIZE HOW LUCKY I AM TO LIVE IN OHIO AND HAVE THE SGA I HAVE. NOT THAT I BELIEVE ALL THIS BS, GOD KNOWS THERE ARE 3 SIDES TO EVERY STORY- EACH SIDE AND THE TRUTH.
