These people are nuts! My loan is due on the 10 th of every month. And by the 20th if its not paid they are calling me cosistantley at work , at home, and on my cell. Within a 5 day period I had 30 voicemails on my cell phone. They start at 8am and continue until 8pm. I have asked them to stop calling me at work and my boss has asked them to stop calling me at work but they continue to do so as if I never said anything to them.
This is our 3rd auto loan thru them and its been like this every time. My second car I traded in for my current car on Jan 26 2005. my payment was due on Dec 28 2004. I traded in @29 days past due. My trade in wasnt sold until Feb 22 2005, and dont you know they reported me as being 30 days late. I argued with them and everything. I even reported it to the credit bureau and they came back with an investigation and said it was correct.
I am so fed up with Americredit but what company will take you when your not the perfect consumer credit wise??. People who have less than perfect credit are being forced to use Americredit.

I am sorry, but you were 30 days past due

You stated that you traded in your vehice when you were 29 days past due and Americredit reported you 30 days past due on your credit report.
Working in financing, I am sorry to say that you were past due. The reason is, even though you traded in your vehicle at 29 days past due, Americredit did not recieve the pay off until your vehicle was 30 days past due and no payment was paid.
You said that you financed the new vehicle thru them, but unfortunantly until they recieve a pay off from the dealer, you still need to make you payments on the vehicle that was traded in or you, as you found out, will be reported late.

"This is our 3rd auto loan thru them and its been like this every time."
Why do you keep going back to them?
"My loan is due on the 10 th of every month. And by the 20th if its not paid they are calling me cosistantley at work , at home, and on my cell."
Well you are late, what do you expect them to do?
"My trade in wasnt sold until Feb 22 2005, and dont you know they reported me as being 30 days late."
This one I REALLY dont understand! If you traded it in, it should have been paid off the day you traded it!
Also, I dont believe the certified letter will work for them as they are a 1st party collector.

Send them a letter demanding all contact be in writing
AUTHOR: James - (U.S.A.)

Send it certified mail return receipt requested. Tell them no more phone calls, period. All contact is to be by mail only. No calls at work, period. No calls to family, friends, etc, period. Advise them you will sue for FDCPA violations. The change your phone numbers and don't ever give it out again.
Also be advised they have a way to break your "caller block" feature even when you call on one of the direct lines (non 800). If you make any calls to them, do it from a payphone.
Next time you buy a car, go to a local used car lot in your town. One of those "buy here, pay here" places is much better than Americredit.
Or save up and buy a very inexpensive used car and pay cash. Hard to do when you are strapped every month, but you have to break the cycle of using that company.
