I found this on my credit card bill. I had never authorized this and it automatically appeared. Whenever I tried to call, I was put on hold for endless periods. I have still not been able to contact them. Roy New York, New York

Finally got through

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, July 23, 2002

Keep calling the phone number - I finally got through. And the person (James) I spoke with asked very few questions, verified that an account was opened in my name and immediately cancelled it and credited both the charges that were put on my credit card.

The other interesting thing is that when I called my credit card company, they were very much aware of this scam and said it was one of the most popular scams around right now. They obviously have had quite a few complaints and were very helpful and agreed to reverse the charges and any finance charge associated with it.

One thing they did tell me, is that had I paid my credit card bill in full, they would not have been able to reverse the charge because paying your bill in full is an acknowledgement that you accept all the charges billed to the account! So if you are a person who always pays their credit cards in full, be sure to review every charge before paying otherwise you will have an awful time if you decide to dispute something!

Good luck everyone.
