On Saturday October 9, 2010 my wife and I went out all excited to buy a new car. We had talked at length on what we wanted and determined to look at three cars, Hyundai Elantra Touring, Honda CRV, and Toyota Matrix. After spending most of the morning test driving and reviewing our options, we decided on the Hyundai Elantra Touring and returned to Antwerpen Hyundai to strike a deal. After about an hour of dealing back and forth (very 1980's) we struck a deal and were excited that the car was available locally and would be in that evening. We signed the purchase agreement and completed all the financial documentation and gave them a check for $2770.00 as our downpayment.

That is when all the lies started.

Lie Number One: "The car was local and would be in that evening"

The Truth: the car was scheduled to be delivered to another local dealership, but there was no definition as to when.

The Result: We were effectively removed from the market, with a false promise of the car being available

Lie Number Two: "We are sorry, but the car will be in on Monday or Tuesday"

The Truth: When I called the dealer that Antwerpen had negotiated the car from, on Thursday, they confirmed that they were scheduled to get the car, but had been waiting for it for three weeks and had no idea when it would arrive.

The Result: We were promised a car on Monday or Tuesday, and Antwerpen Hyundai had no idea were the car was, or when it would arrive.

Lie Number Three: On Thursday, my wife check our account and determined that Antwerpen Hyundai had cashed our check for $2770, and it had cleared our bank. This was after the Finance Guy had stated that they would not cash the check until deliver.

The Truth: The Finance Guy lied. They cashed the check on Tuesday, only because they could not cash it on Monday because it was a holiday.

The Result: Antwerpen Hyundai conducted theft by deception by cashing a check they stated they wouldn't, and we are without those funds to purchase another car, effectively taking us out of the market. The joke on them is that though it is irritating to be without those funds, we still have enough to buy another car somewhere else.

Lie Number Four: On Friday, we called again and were told that the car had just arrived at the other dealership and they were going to pick it up. A short while later the Salesman from Antwerpen Hyundai called and said he had a car exactly what we wanted and could deliver it later that day. The only hitch was that car was another dealership's service loaner and had 5200 miles.

The Truth: A 5200 mile Loaner Car was not exactly what we wanted, and categorically refused the deal.

The Result: Another day gone by. We are still without the car we have no invested $2770 in.

Lie Number Five: On Saturday October 16, 2010 (one week later), we went in to Antwerpen Hyundai at 9:00 am sharp. The front doors were open and a couple of customers were waiting for service and sales. There were no salespeople or managers to be found. There was one lady who had arrived right at 9:00 am due to her salesperson calling her the day before with promises of a great deal, only to receive a call from said salesperson (I use the term loosely) saying he wasn't feeling well and would not be in. She was insistent on the phone, and he grudgingly agreed to come in around 10:00 am. There were similar stories from two other customers. At around 9:20 am our salesperson arrived, saw us and proceeded to go hide in the back. He barely acknowledged us, and certainly did not make any attempt to placate us. At 9:30 am the general sales manager arrived (remember the dealership opened at 9:00 am) and proceeded to tell us that we were being unreasonable in our demands for the car and/ or our money back. At 9:45 the general sales manager arrived to work, and promised to first thing Monday morning get us a refund check and personally deliver it to us.

The Truth: Antwerpen Hyundai's staff had effective taken us out of the market for a week. Now we had been lied to by the salesperson, the sales manager, the general sales manager, and the general manager. (by the way, did you notice I did not proper capitalize the liars titles. They did not deserve that accolade).

The Result: Angry customer. While we were waiting for 45 minutes, we candidly discussed the poor service and lies told with at least 6 potential customer and service customers. Antwerpen's stupidity for angering us was the loss of at least two customers.

Lie Number Six: The general manager who had promised to first thing Monday morning get and deliver us a refund check. Well I guess you can surmise that that did not happen. To compound insult to injury the Comptroller demanded confirmation that the check had cleared, which my wife supplied

Wpgk, Your Ripoff Report beautifully describes how much of the U.S. economy functions.....

and it also reinforces why our economy, and our country, is in such bad shape.

LYING, DECEIVING, MANIPULATING, & TRICKING consumers has become the 'American way' of doing business. It's no wonder our economy collapsed in 2008 and needed hundreds of billions of dollars of taxpayer's money in order to prevent another depression.

But here's the sad part: the U.S. economy hasn't changed much at all since September of 2008 when the 'Collapse' took place. So it means that another collapse will happen again in the near future, in my opinion.

*Make sure to 'Google' this- FRONTLINE: INSIDE THE MELTDOWN, and watch it on the web to see the progression of how our economy in the USA 'melted down' throughout 2008.

P.S. Don't forget to visit the BANK OF AMERICA page of this site and read the Ripoff Reports for valuable information.

Good luck to you.

WELCOME TO THE U.S. ECONOMY- ONE BIG LIE
