I am telling you with all sincerity I was ripped off by Apollo College. I obtained an education & maintained a 4.0GPA for the 9 month program & walked the walk at graduation on December 12, 2003 & have yet to receive my diploma.
I was completely lied to by the advisor & decieved into chosing a different program than what I had originally came in for.
I wanted to be a dental assistant & he signed me up as a Medical Administrative Assistant (even though that is not at all what I wanted{to be front office clerical}).
The 1st month is computer lab, same for everyone, in every program. I completed with a perfect 100% A+ & went to Front Office. Front Office is the same for Medical Assistants & the MAA (which I was signed up as).
The teacher told me I should've been an MA because it was clear that was what I wanted to do. I switched programs. I went from Front Office to back & never had to repeat anyhing or take any unneccessary classes. I would have taken those FO classes for MA too.
BUT Apollo college charged me twice for Front Office even though I only took it once. They charged me & absorbed all my student loans & grants after they assured me $2200 was left over for daycare expenses incurred during my 6 wk externship.
They continued to lie to me til the very last minute & then offered me a $500 advance & now want me to repay $425 to get my diploma! It is ridiculous. I spoke with Jim Miller & so did my husband. It did no good, they are crooks & liars & I would never recommend anyone go to Apollo College.

I went to the Apollo College on 27th ave and Dunlap. I have an associates degree in Respiratory Therapy.
It was a huge joke. The teacher had personal relationships with the students, so they got inside information on the tests and stuff. Not like the tests were even too hard, but it wasn't fair.
They claim they can help you with daycare, and housing assistance. Their help was to give you the For Rent Guide and a list of daycares that accept state assistance. What a joke.
We also had problems with a Pakistani girl. This was pre- 9/11. Her religous views and Anti-jew, anti-american verbal diarhea was allowed, and it was really uncomfortable. We always looked under our cars to make sure there were no bombs..I'm not even joking. 9 months later 9/11 happened. Only if I knew then what I know now.
EVERYONE in our class had some kind of issue or another with how they were treated by administration. We went straight to the top. The owner. I think her office is at 27th ave and Bethany. I think her name was Margie.
Some of the teachers were legit and really cared. It was mostly the administration that was trying to suck the money from us.
If you want to go to college...do your homework. I did that "open the phonebook and closed my eyes and pointed" thing. My finger ended up at Apollo College.
