"Buyer Beware - Always Know What You Are Dealing With

I ordered an air conditioner from AppliancesConnection. Ten days later a package was delivered by UPS. As no one was home it was left by the side door. Affixed to the outside of the package was an order form/packing slip that listed the unit I purchased. The package however contained a very different item. Subsequently I contacted AppliancesConnection. Initially I received an appropriate response; they apologized and said they would issue a prepaid UPS return label and send the correct unit. AppliancesConnection also asked me to send photos of the package I received. I sent photos. In reply AppliancesConnection responded they did not carry or ship that model, and asked for additional photos. Perplexed I continued to attempt to help sort this out and sent them a series of detailed photos. At this point I assumed somewhere along the way packages had been inadvertently mixed up and misdirected. It seemed AppliancesConnection would research and resolve this simple matter. But they stopped responding. I made several attempts to get clarification; through their online ticket forum, telephone calls, online chats and emails. Eventually I was told via chat that the matter had been elevated to a higher level official who would respond through their online ticket forum. I felt satisfied this would now be quickly resolved. And I still believe most the employees at AppliancesConnection would have preceded accordingly.

Any potential customer of AppliancesConnection should know what could happen to them if they order from this company, receive the wrong item, and the matter is elevated within AppliancesConnection.

Now while I recognize anything is possible when trying to figure out what had happened, I must confess I do not believe most online merchants have high level customer service representatives that would conclude and convey AppliancesConnection's response.

The AppliancesConnection representative now handling this did not think that there was a package mix up that needed to be sorted out. A prepaid UPS return label was not issued. Instead AppliancesConnection posted a written request of me to send them a police report and threatened that if I did not comply within 24 hours they would send the police to my home to investigate, ask for video surveillance from my neighbors and UPS... Additional accusations went on to imply that I had made them a victim, sent them fictitious pictures, and committed mail fraud.

Of course I contacted the proper authorities and the matter is being handled accordingly. PayPal and VISA are now involved.

What at first seemed to me to be a simple package mix up, has thus far required one of AppliancesConnection’s customers to spend hours documenting, and days corresponding with various concerned parties in an attempt to get AppliancesConnection to acknowledge their need to collect this very large and heavy object, which they arranged to have delivered to our residence, and now accept their responsibility to refund the money. This certainly could easily have been resolved had AppliancesConnection approached this matter in a logical manner; by treating one of its potential customers with reasonable respect, simply collected the errant package, and sent the item that was ordered and paid for.

I certainly feel for employees of AppliancesConnection who have to work at a business that treats potential customers in this way. And I advocate for potential customers; please be aware of what could happen if you purchase something from AppliancesConnection, and there is an issue, and then it gets elevated within this company. They may also choose to accuse you of victimizing them, and you may not want to bother, or be able to afford the time required to defend yourself. Think twice about trying to save a couple of dollars, when in order to avoid these kinds of false accusations you can simply choose to deal with a reputable company.

Perhaps if AppliancesConnection posts that the person(s) responsible for these actions has been weeded out, consumers may be able to feel confident enough to deal with this online merchant.
