Ashworth College (or any school named Ashworth) on-line education is a scam.

Unfortunately, someone very close to me signed up for their college prep classes with the intention of moving on toward a college degree program. Their transcript review process is a total scam and probably non-existant. Based on the credit evaluation and transfer credits they gave, there were multipe duplicate classes required to be retaken and ignored classes.

When the school was called to inquire about the credit transfer offered, she was told that really there are probably even more classes that would need to be taken. Finally, after telling them that this is not what was agreed upon, a refund was requested. Only one introductory class was taken.

Not only did they refuse a refund, but they tried to say that she owed them money for cancelling.

Please, please, please don't give this school any money. It would cost you a lot less to just print out a diploma at home.

Ashworth Is Credible

AUTHOR: Ronna - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 02, 2010

I am a high school history teacher. Not only have both my own children attended Ashworth's online school. The oldest got several scholarships to Auburn University and was admitted without any problem.

There are some classes that Ashworth will not accept as transfers from your other schools, but the program they have set up for the College Prep is a rigorous challenging program they designed.
The high school where I teach also allows students to take Ashworth's single courses for credit.
I personally called to be certain that the Universities in our area would accept a Diploma from Ashworth before enrolling my children. They all accept Ashworth as an accredited school. I also contacted SACS to be certain that Ashworth was accredited by them. They are officially accredited. You should have no reservations about enrolling with this high school program. It is not easy and you won't be able to just pay for a diploma. You will have to earn it.
Ashworth does have a partial refund program for people who wish to withdraw. I know people who have had some of the money returned when the student decided to attend traditional school again. All the credits they earned at Ashworth transferred back to the traditional school.
I had to share my own experience with Ashworth to give a more balanced look at this school.

ashworth is a good school please read

Ashworth College is accredited by the DETC and recognized by The U.S. department of Education U.S. Army. etc, and also recognized by CHEA and its member of HETA. Check for yourself.

http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/

http://www.chea.org/heta/default.asp

My story I received and Associates Degree from Ashworth Enrolled in the U.S. Army and then Transferred my credits to A Regional Accredited College.

A lot of Regional Accredited Colleges do not Accept National Accredits college credits from DETC or ACICS ( the two major national accredited agency both recognized by CHEA and U.S. Department of Education)

http://www.acics.org/
http://www.detc.org/

It is not an Ashworth problem okay it is a feud between RA accredited schools and NA accredited Schools. RA schools don't want to accept their credits because of business they want to keep having a monopoly.

Detc is the best National accreditation and Ashworth is Accredited by them. It would be great if Ashworth was also Regionally Accredited and I believe they are working on getting their RA Accreditation. Contact them and tell them to get RA Accredited.

Also contact Department of education and tell them that they must stop RA accredited colleges from just refusing National accredited college credits.

Contact DETC also and tell them about your issues

People PLEASE educate yourself on accreditation

Distance learning accreditation means nothing!

Regional
National

Those are the two major types of accreditation. Regional is the type of accreditation that is WIDELY accepted for transfer. National is almost never accepted without great expense to you.

I have posted numerous times on this subject under the ashworth posts, but it bears repeating. They need to get it together and get regionally accredited.
