Atlantic Circulation, Inc. Lies in order to get me to purchase a magazine York Pennsylvania

Here is a copy of a letter I sent to Atlantic Circulation, Inc. when I canceled my order. While I certainly support an individual making a living and legitimately selling magazines, I take offense to the lies and scheming tactics used to make the sale:

I had two gentlemen come to my door on July 19th selling magazines for a fundraiser for their film and television school project. They gentlemen indicated that I could purchase magazines from them and the proceeds would go to their school trip to London. The gentlemen furthermore indicated that I could have my magazines instead routed to an individual serving overseas in the Iraqi war and that my purchase would be completely tax deductible.

I have no problem with someone legitimately selling a product to me. But, I am completely dumbfounded by the number of lies that these individuals told in order to get the sale completed. One, the individual indicated that he lived nearby and that his father was a pediatrician with the Omaha Childrens Hospital. I looked online only to find out that there was no Dr. Brown (the gentlemans name was Ashley Brown) on staff at Omaha Childrens Hospital.

Two, he noted that he lived just a few blocks over on a Murray Street. I am new to this neighborhood so I went and checked and could find no such street. Lastly, he indicated that my magazine would be sent to someone serving overseas in Iraq. However, nowhere on the receipt does it make mention of this.

My husband is currently serving in the Navy and has been deployed on several occasions to the Persian Gulf in defense of this country. It is completely appalling that someone would use our military as a means to get a sale. And even more appalling that a company such as yours would employ someone that goes to those lengths to sell a magazine.

Enclosed you will find my Notice of Cancellation. I refuse to do business with a company that sends individuals of such low moral character to sell products on their behalf. In addition, I have placed a stop payment on my check. I wish to not receive any magazines from your company and I will in the future not speak to anyone representing your company or products circulated by your company.
