AT&T/Cingular Wireless Changing Of Contract early termination fee Internet, Nationwide
*Consumer Suggestion: AT&T/Cingular Wireless Early Termination Fees
I had got service with AT&T early this year. AT&T has recently merged with Cingular Wireless. In my contract not once did it state anything about being bought out by another company. I am fed up with the bull, my bills come late, i cant get a contact for customer service that is 24/7.
I want to cancel my service with AT&T but i cant because there is at least a $150 early termination fee. I beleive if i want to cancel my service due to being serviced under Cingular i should be able too and not be charged for the stupid fee.

#1 Consumer Suggestion
AT&T/Cingular Wireless Early Termination Fees
AUTHOR: Suzanne - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, January 15, 2005
Dear Frustrated,
If you are currently under contract with AT&T, the early termination fee for that company was $175 per phone. The early termination fee for Cingular Wireless is $150 per phone.
Your only option to cancel without an early termination fee is if the equipment you are using is no longer working and AT&T no longer has the ability to upgrade your system. If you have, for example, a broken phone and are on an AT&T multi-phone plan, the company will not be able to replace your one phone. Cingular uses the GSM and AT&T did not.
If Cingular Wireless or any of its agents (phone stores or kiosk agents)have intervened and changed the terms and conditions of your original AT&T contract like forcing you to get new equipment (they call it "upgrading"), then there are NO penalty fees for ending the AT&T service.
Check the terms and conditions of both companies on the Internet prior to putting anything in writing. You must be specific with a reason and state the rememdy you are seeking.
