My sister hired Authorized movers to move her furniture from Manchester, NH to Tampa, Florida.
1) Authorized Estimate #1: was $2,024 for an estimated weight of 4,095 lbs.
2) Authorized Estimate #2: Was $3,460 for an estimated weight of 7,000 lbs

Max. Note: The 2nd estimate, they came out to the house and looked at all the furniture and then revised the estimate and rightfully so. I also estimated the weight at 6,000 lbs. (I am an estimator and an engineer for 20 years). They also told us the 7,000 lbs was a conservative estimate and it would not go over the 7,000 lbs. So the 2nd estimate was pretty accurate.

Then when the truck showed up, it had a sign on the side that said Apollo movers. They loaded up the truck with everything and then told me the weight was 10,500 lbs and asked for an additional $2,014. They didn't even weigh the furniture. THIS COMPANY IS A TOTAL FRAUD AND A RIPOFF !

I tried to get the manager of Authorized movers and they gave me the run around trying to delay me and hope the truck would drive away. We had to block the truck from leaving and made them unload the entire truck. We have since hired another company to move our stuff. The new company indicated the weight was 6,200 lbs.

Be careful who you hire. Also don't allow for a clause in your contract allowing the company to jack up your estimate by increasing the weigt, because they will. Make it a lump sum contract and if they won't, then find another company.

Ripped Off on Pricing...Stole the Deposit

AUTHOR: Teather - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 22, 2008

They not only lie, cheat and steal, but also said they don't care about ethics, laws or state investigations.
They jacked up the estimate on my move by 80% and told me that the furniture would go to Miami instead of where it was supposed to go in West Palm Beach. They said "maybe" they'll move it in a month or two.
I threw them out and then they said they sent a deposit refund which they didn't.
Blatant thieves operating without fear of the law.
