Avast Antivirus First they mess up my computer, then they want to charge me $180 to fix it!

I downloaded the Avast "FREE" antivirus software.  I dealt with the popups trying to get me to upgrade, but then a pop up came up and I couldn't delete it.  I shut down my computer because it was frozen on their pop up and then I could no longer get my computer running properly after that.  I could not use my web browsers, I could not open MSCONFIG I could not even start my computer in safe mode.  Finally I got my computer started but no drivers would load.  When I tried to stop the Avast from running it told me ACCESS DENIED even though I'm the admin.

Finally I called and the person told me they can solve the problem...IF I sign up for the $180 package!!!  He then told me that AVAST was not the problem without even diagnosing anything.  I told him that since they created the problem, they should pay me to have it fixed, and again he denied it.

It cost me $200 to get it fixed by a reputable computer service company.  The only problem they found was a bad AVAST.INI file!  So I guess they get you with the free offer and then they blackmail you to fix it!
