I opened an account online with BOA and transferred $50,000 from another bank. BOA promptly closed the account for no reason and has refused to return my money. I've had to retain legal counsel to get my money returned.

Jim - you obviously are not familiar with Bank of Americas dark side.

1) http://www.propublica.org/article/bank-of-america-lied-to-homeowners-and-rewarded-foreclosures

2) http://bofa-racketeering-2015.weebly.com (contains emails with bank of america legal)

3) http://bofa-bunker-buster.weebly.com

4) http://karmi-tsunami.weebly.com

When BofA wants to be deviant, its as dark as it gets and they dont care if its obvious.  They realize civil action is expensive for consumers and they rely on that.  Their excuse if this man gets to them wiht his attorney will be the "incompetence" defense, which is "oops, we made an error".

In the past 12 months I have heard of several people with larger accounts (1 million +) being unable to make withdrawls. Theres a major cash crisis / cash cull going on at the US banks that is not making the media.. .because the media is closely tied to the banks.

Google Bank of america Racketeering and you might be surprised at the nefarious activties since the 2008 crash.

No there really is no more to this story. I received a form letter stating my account was closed for "one of the following reasons....". I have no account seizures. Nobody has any claim to this money for taxes or any other reason. BOA really has kept my money for over a month now with no other explanation. It sounds fake because it's so unbelievable, but I assure you it's the truth. I've done some research and it appears this is business as usual for them when they close an account. They take forever to return the funds. This is serious in this case because it's such a large amount of money.

And The Rest of the Story Is???

What you're saying is, for absolutely NO REASON, the big, bad bank singled you out to steal your money!

There's more to this story you're not telling us.  I suggest things like the bank's exercise of the right to offset clause, an account seizure due to unpaid bills or other such judgement matter.

Of course, this could just be a fake report too.
