After applying for a Bank of America c.c. I was rejected. I received a letter in the mail of the declined credit card with a credit line of 500.00. A offer was mentioned on the letter that I can get a Credit Card if I make a payment of $99.00, within 30 days of letter..by check or money order.
Letter heading is title WorldPoints at WWW.bankofamerica.com/worldpoints
This is not mentioned on their website, but pretty sneaky in get my business by paying for it!

Yeah, keep the money in the bank and collect on the interest. My down payment is your profitable scheme to benefit off folks like me. Repair credit! Please... This is a rip-off!!!

Many people at a certain reputable credit repair forum have this card and recommend it. It is a real credit card and by staying under the limit and making all payments on time, it will improve your credit rating.
The $99.00 is a security deposit. It is kept at the bank in a savings account, though you can't withdraw it until after fully paying off and closing out the card. There are several other similar legitimate offers from other banks, but most of the other secured credit cards require you to put up the whole credit limit as the security deposit.
Note that this is different from the Nigerian/Canadian scammers requiring "security deposits" for cash loans that never happen. Security deposits for conventional cash installment loans (you're paid the whole amount of the loan at signing) are always a scam and illegal.

This is definitely a Rip Off.
I research and no reference about additional charges to get a credit card.
Extremely miss leading information. Glad to bring out the truth about this company before people go ahead and get taken.

World Points is a type of Credit Card that Bank of America offers. It is one of many credit cards that Bank of America has. SO this is not sneaky at all and is definitely not a Rip Off. Do some research before you post on this forum.
