Long negotiation makes me dehydrated and confused, and made me buy the packages I don't want.
Bell Honda dealer's are seasoned negotiators. They persuaded me to buy packages I really don't need it. The negotiation last for 6 hours and I was dehydrated and confused and excited to sign the documents I shouldn't.

Here is the list of prices
CAR SELLING PRICE-------------------25685.61 (currently $18000)
MPP PLATINUM PL----------------------1795.00
ZAKTEK UPGRADE-----------------------599.00
ZAKTEK INTERIOR-----------------------599.00
ZAKTEK (Optional)----------------------399.00
SKYLINK--------------------------------1110.00
Service Contract----------------------22000.00
Disability---------------------------------750.00
GAP--------------------------------------750.00
Alarm-----------------------------------1295.00

Refuse to cancel the three ZAKTEK packages
I went to Bell Honda to cancel ZAKTEK packages, they said I could not cancel them!!! ZAKTEK packages are optional. I have right to cancel them at any time as described in the agreement.

Get the worst deal --- $555 for 55 months at 8.44%
All the discount during the bargain are not realized. Later on, I found out that for a cheap Honda Civic, I am paying $555 for 5 years!!! My interest rate is 8.44%!!!

Car insurance 50% more expensive than normal
There are so many details that one cannot study in details. The car insurance premium was $120 per month, later on I switched to GEICO, and it offered me a package far more better for only $83 per month.

Delayed cancellation of coverage (they said it will take 3-6 weeks)
I was trying to cancel the MPP PLATINUM PL on Auguest 18, 2012. They said it will take 3-6 weeks but right now it is December 29, 2012 and it has not be cancelled yet!!!

You are d**n right

Purchasing a car is not like purchasing a hat in a shopping mall, being prepared for the negotiation is the key. I should have a strong character, that's d**n right

Please check the Yelp about Bell Honda, you will find how many complaints about this dealer. They have 2 points only. You will also find strange things: the reviews are extreme cases: half of them are 1 point, another half are 5 points. Why? I doubt the dealer is creating a lot of virtual accounts to counter attack negative reviews

I have a colleague who just bought a Honda Civic for just $18000 in another dealership. She had a negotiation with Bell Honda dealer and walked out laughing about the price of "packages" equals the car itself.

Another thing I want to point out is: Trying to sell high price packages with long negotiation is just like "kill the hen just for taking out the egg". I am not an isolated person, I have about 1000 colleague in my company, and when I shared my experience with one email, their response is: this dealer is trying to charge more money than helping customers satisfying their needs with low cost.  Recently I have two close colleagues tried Bell Honda and walked away, they don't like the packages and well prepared for the negotiations.

Thank you anyway, that is an inconvenient truth. Hope other customers not make the same mistake and be prepared, be strong-minded in negotiation and protect their hard-earn money.

You agreed to purchase a $22000 service agreement on a $25000 vehicle. You are a smooth negotiator.

Excuses Galore!

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, December 29, 2012

Oh yes, you were dehydrated, you were confused, you were excited and the big bad salesman kept you there and made you sign. You better undress in front of a mirror and check...maybe you've been confused about BEING A MAN too. You volunarily acted as a doormat and now its buyers remorse. You can make up as many excuses as you wish but what really happened here is you were a wimp. You could have ended this long before six hours by being a man and walking out. Next time take your mother with you.
