I HAVE A LOAN WITH BENEFICIAL FINANCIAL FOR
2 YEARS. I ALWAYS PAY ON TIME, EXCEPT FOR THE LAST TWO
MONTHS, BECAUSE I LOST MY JOB. THEY NOW CALL ME SEVERAL TIMES DAILY AND WANT THEIR PAYMENT.
I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT I HAD LOST MY JOB AND COULD THEY LOWER MY PAYMENTS SO I CAN PAY THEM BACK. THEY HANG UP THE PHONE AND CALL ME BACK IN A FEW HRS, JUST LIKE IF I NEVER SPOKE THEY ASK ME FOR PAYMENT AGAIN.
I DON'T KNOW HOW TO CONTACT THEM, EXCEPT TO THE LOCAL OFFICES. THEY DO NOT SHOW ANY ADDRESS, EXCEPT FOR PAYMENT OFFICE.
I PAID A 500.00 INSURANCE AT THE BIGINING OF MY LOAN, I WAS TOLD IT WAS FOR PROTECTION IF I COULD NOT PAY. NOW THEY TELL ME IF I DIE THEN THEY WOULD PAY IT.
IT.S VERY SAD THAT HONEST AMERICANS ARE GETTING RIPPED OFF BY THESE COMPANIES JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE IN NEED. IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!

The only way to stop the calls is to change your phone# to an unlisted one. You can usually get this done for free if you tell the phone company you are getting harassing and threatening calls from an UNKNOWN caller.
Or, you can file a complaint of harassment with your local police and get a restraining order against them. Harasssment of any kind is illegal, but unfortunately the FDCPA does not apply here as they are not third party collectors. Your protection is limited.
You might want to check with state regulators on this, but that sounds like an advance fee loan to me which is illegal. And forcing insurance on a personal loan I believe is illegal.
Did you ask them about using the "insurance" to cover your payments since you can't make them? Ask for a copy of that "insurance policy". I bet it doesn't exist. Do you have a reciept showing you paid for it?
