BitDefender LLC Rebate Ripoff Fort Lauderdale Florida

Get $20 back from BitDefender when you upgrade from a competitive product! That's the promise of this computer anti-virus company.

However, after mailing in receipts, forms, and other information, I was informed by the BitDefender folks that my rebate could not be processed.

The reason? The end flap of the software box that contained the UPC symbol IS NOT considered "proof of purchase." Now, anyone who has ever mailed in a rebate form for any product knows that for 99.9% of products, the UPC symbol is "proof of purchase." After all, how could you get an end flap from a box unless you purchased the product? And the UPC symbol is a complete description of the product. That's not true, however, for BitDefender.

So just what will BitDefender accept for proof of purchase? Well, at the other end of the box there is a small flap with the tiny words, "proof of purchase" on it.

That's right.....I enclosed my receipt, the proof of upgrade, and proof of purchase, but didn't include the hidden flap with the tiny words, "proof of purchase."

I only wish now that when I purchased the software, I'd have sent them a piece of paper with the words, "check for fifty dollars" instead of sending them an actual check for fifty dollars.
