My wife and I recently saw a charge from blockbuster on our account. It was a surprise to us because we had not been to blockbuster recently. I called the store and they said it was for late charges for some of our recent rentals. It was a shock to us because the charge was for about $25. Since when did blockbuster charge that much for late DVDs? The big shock is the blockbuster processed that payment without our authorization. No one called us to ask for payment. No one told us that was owed. We did not give our card information for the payment to be made. The only thing I can think of is that blockbuster kept our information from one of our previous transactions and decided to use that same information for another payment without our approval. This is very upsetting to both of us, and is grounds for further action, not to mention wanting to cancel our account with blockbuster.

The real issue is the irresponsibility of blockbuster using people's personal information without any authorization or approval to process late fees. Yes they are late fees.

There are no such things as unathorized charges...

I will explain this.

When you make an account, you are required to have a credit card on file. Why? Well, if you decide to keep a movie forever, we have to charge to. You get charged 7 days after the movie was due for the price of the movie.

An employee does not sit there typing your credit card number in repeatedly to charge to. Nor do we save your information from previous transactions to do so. The POS system that we have does not have a history, except hitting the up arrow.

Now. Unless you hand the csr your credit card and they write it down, there is absolutely no way to do this. You swipe your card in the tellermate and select the options for payment. The CSR only puts in the amount you're paying which can only be exact or lower, it cannot be for more than what you owe at that time.

So, there is no way that your information was saved from a previous visit. Your credit card was charged because a movie was not returned. Congratulations on wasting your time writing out a false rip off report. Next time, I would suggest calling that store and asking why you were charged and then look around your living room for that specific movie that was indeed charged.
