Blue Cross Blue Shield Of Georgia BCBS cancelled my insurance with no notice because of a bookkeeping error they admitted to making in August of 2008!!! Columbus Georgia Internet

I have paid my premiums to Blue Cross Blue Shield every month, and over the past yr. my rates have increased but I have continued to pay so I will have insurance coverage. On June 8th I went to the doctor and then went to fill prescriptions and was told that my insurance had been canceled effective April 1, 2009. I was extremely upset and by the time I got home my doctors office had called to say the same thing. The first notice I had received was on the April 2009 which said I had a delinquent amount due however I sent them a letter explaining I had paid all premiums and included the April premium. On June the 9th the journey into the twilight zone began. After spending hours on the phone with a young lady in the billing department of BCBS she told me yes it appeared all my premiums had been paid but the problem was that in August, September and October of 2008 they had applied some company's payment to my account and therefore I owed them $900 plus more money. She could not tell me where my premiums payment for those months went. I asked if they could reinstate my insurance until I could get all my cx. cks. and she again said only if I paid them $900 more. This was so bizarre and I was so upset I finally could not talk to these people any more. I take blood pressure medicine and my blood pressure was sky high. I finally filed a formal complaint with John Oxendine's office the Georgia Insurance Commissioner on 6-10-09. Further explanation is unnecessary at this time. Suffice to say yesterday I received a new card effective 4-09 and I still to this day have never received a cancellation notice or a reinstatement notice or a letter of explanation. It is totally unfair how these companies think they can treat people however they want. I personally have had enough.
