On October 24, 2008, I received a call from someone from the Blue Yellow Book Company. I was in the middle of a service call at one of my client's houses and I was completely stunned by what I was told.

The lady asked if I wanted to renew my subscription in their book for the next 48 months. I told her I had no clue to what she was talking about. She tells me that I had a listing on the website with them, in this so-called book, and now I owe them $698.

I asked them why they never billed me anything for two whole years and they said they don't operate that way. I told her that I didn't sign up for any advertising with them and that I wanted proof otherwise before I would even consider paying this bill.

She began telling me that she has my recorded conversation where I authorized this listing/charge. I was very argumentative, to the point she got really short with me.

She turned to saying well if you want to cancel you need to talk to the cancellations department. I said cancel what? She repeated herself. I said, whatever I have to do...

So then I was transferred to a guy who said he was recording the conversation. I said ok. I answered his questions, and then asked to hear the tape. He said I don't know what you and the previous agent spoke about so I am unable to meet your request. I said, fine, transfer me back to that other lady and I'll tell her again. So he did, and I did.

She swore that I would have a copy to hear and then the bill would arrive in my mailbox within 10 days. She then said I would have 30 days to pay it. Well just about a month later, today, November 21, 2008, I receive the bill.

First of all, this thing (ridiculous looking bill) doesn't say hardly anything other then the amount due. Second, there isn't any sort of letter or documentation as to the account. Lastly, the lady said I would receive it in 10 days, almost a month passed. The postmark is from the 19th, and the bill is due 11/23/08. Are you kidding me? What happened to the month window to pay it, they use it to mail it. Well even if I had the intention of paying this bill, two days from now is Sunday. Good luck getting that accomplished.

I am reading other people's complaints about this same company and all of them are fairly similar. Thanks for taking the time to read mine...mostly thanks in advance for any suggestions, comments, or updates.

Someone needs to go after these people. This is going to spread wildly if nothing is done.

this is a big scam

AUTHOR: Marie - (U.S.A.)

I don't care how much these people harass you. DO NOT EVER pay this bill. This is a scam. More than likely someone called you or one of your employees on the phone stating that they wanted to update your company information and you did, but not at anytime did they tell you you were agreeing to an online listing. Much less be charged for this. They may have even stated they were updating an existing listing you have with them. If they do have a recording these scums have ways of changing them around to make it sound like you agreed to this bogus crap. All they can do is harass you, if they did send you and invoice in the mail file a fraud report with the post office, then file complaints with the Attorney General in your state and the state this company is in also file with the BBB (won't help much) and FTC, and complain to anyone else you can think of. If you find out they are really really located in Canada file a complaint with the Canadian phone buster.

Also if you send them correspondence in the mail make sure you don't sign anything with your signature. Scums like this have been know to make up bogus contracts and add you signature. When they call you on the phone as soon as you find out who it is, don't argue with them (unless your bored) just hang up every time.

All they have is a recording, nothing in writing. Legally they can do nothing but harass you.

In the future if someone calls you to update your business info find out who it is and only verify if it is someone you are doing business with or are going to do business with. Also watch out for people calling stating they are from your phone company also wanting info they could be scamming you also. They will state that they are your phone company. Before giving them info call your phone company to verify that they have called wanting this info. More than likey your phone company won't call wanting info. Check your phone bill each month and make sure all charges are legit.

Remember this place only has a recording (maybe) they can do nothing. Good luck.
