On 1/21/06 I purchased a computer from BlueHippo.I was told that if I Ordered my computer today! I would receive a 17in. Plazma TV and a 3in1 Printer and a Free upgrade package for the computer. Well on 1/31/06 I received a shipping form which stated that I was to pay $311.48 for the upgrade package and my computer was a 2005 instead of a 2006.Well,I called BlueHippo and spoke to Kevin (ID#4104) and explained what the Rep.Shane had said to me. He apologized for the misunderstanding told me to cross out the upgrade and to correct the 2005 computer model to a 2006 model and to inital the corrections. So,I did. I also sent a lump payment of $674.19 to have the computer delivered earlier.plus payed $124.00 and 6 payments of $35.99. Well I received my computer six weeks later to find no Free Items(plazma TV&3in1 printer)included in shipment. So, once again I called BlueHippo to complain.was told to write& fax a grievence letter to the Executive Service Corporation. Which I did on 3/1/06. I called the company a third time to ask why I have not received a call. they stated they never received letter so, I refaxed letter and emailed a copy of the letter on 3/13/06. on 3/16/06 I called company again was told that yes they did receive letter but that I had forfitted free items when I removed upgrade package! I told them that the ADS on the TV,Internet,Flyers all said the same thing ORDER NOW get free said items. They said it was in the contract I signed. I said no it wasn't cause I had acopy of the shipping form I signed. Rep got quiet and then said it's not on that form you have. I told him I was reporting his company to the Better Business Bureau of Maryland(www.baltimore.bbb.org) Which I did on 3/16/06.so, if anyone can tellme how to get this issue resolved I'd appreciate an advice right now cause I can't return computer because I already payed over $1000.00 and the company said that if I due I can't get any money back. Please help Single hardworking mother of 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This Company Gives The Good Guys A Bad Name

AUTHOR: Michael - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, April 01, 2006

Sounds like you are another poor helpless victim of these sheisters! I live in Baltimore and I am ashamed to share the same city with these crooks. I, like most of the computer dealers in Baltimore are honest.

I have done internet research on Blue Hippo. They aren't really dealers at all. They are a finance company that probably gets the items that they sell in bulk then turn them to the customers (or as the are supposed to do). Based on what I have read (I have not used Blue Hippo), you pay them a set amount for 13 weeks, they then send out the product then the customer pays the balance due.

For the purpose of this response, I went to the BH Web Site and I found a new PC that they are offering for 39 dollars per week. They state they will ship it once 13 weeks of payments are made on time. Then the customer has to satisfy the remainder of the payments. HOw many of these remains to be unknown -- maybe forever even!!!

What the average person doesn't realize is that this PC purchased locally in Baltimore (I will not mention the brand that that PC appears to be) at any major discount retailer for less than the initial 13 weeks of payments!!!

One thing that I suggest that you can do is (you were one of the lucky ones that actually received the computer. Most get nothing from them but a hard time) get a copy of the flyer that mentions the free items. Next Search the web for the Maryland Government home page. Go to that page & find the State's Attorney General's e-mail or physical address and/or a phone number to his office. They can direct you how to file a complaint against the company.

The BBB is good in some cases but I found they are basically worthless with most complaints (you often have to pay to complain to them). You may want to also contact the manufacturer of the PC you got from them and tell them of your misfortunes. Most of the 'better' PC companies want to keep good community relations to keep their names in the business good.

If they are selling to BH in good faith and have no idea that their products are being passed in this fashion may make them re-think any dealings they (the manufacturers) have with BH.
As a computer dealer and tech myself, I wouldn't be in business too long if I pulled the sorts of things that BH does.

In the future though, if you must make a purchase requiring payments (I have been in tight situations as yourself where funds are limited) you may want to investigate renting to own. These kinds of places rent the items to you, but in a rent to own contract, the payments are limited and you get the items right away, with no credit check. The money you pay them buys you the item(s). And the extra that you pay them amounts about to high interest accrued on most credit cards.

Anyway, good luck to you in your fight and God bless.
