Mary Peck, owner of Bootleggers Bluff, took my money through PayPal on Nov 6 and never sent my sign. She ignored my first email to her, so on Dec 21, I filed a dispute with PayPal.

The following is her reply to the PayPal dispute:
12/21/2008 17:16 PST - Seller: LAURA, I SHIPPED ALL ITEMS PENDING FRIDAY SO IT IS ON THE WAY, I WILL GET TRACKING AND ADD TO THE DISPUTE. I AM SORRY IF YOU GOT LOST IN THE SHUFFLE OF THE HOLIDAY RUSH. THANKS

I never received a tracking # or the sign, so I escalated this dispute to a Claim. She never responded to the claim and PayPal found in my favor but was unable to recover any funds from her account.

She sent me 3 different emails, begging forgiveness, blaming her family's multiple illnesses and promised to send both the sign and my money by Jan 12.

Needless to say, I never received either. I have no doubt that the original complaintant was ripped off by Mary Peck and Bootleggers Bluff. If she spent more time tending to her business, and less time advertising on other sites, writing rebuttals on this site, and composing emails full of lies, maybe her business would have been a success.

I only hope the new owner (if that is true) is aware of the debts owed to Mary Peck's customers.

Several years ago, there was a wonderful invention put on the market called a LAPTOP.....say it with me Mary....laptop. I am on vacation-it's lovely. This is what I consider to be poetic justice. It's also free entertainment.
Yes, I was contacted by PayPal 2 days ago....they have informed me that your Appeal of Limitation was denied-Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, that means you still owe money! Please folks, please feel free to contact PayPal yourselves and ask any representative there why an Appeal of Limitation would be denied to a Seller. It is because they are not in good standing-that's why. Now, as fun as it is going back and forth with you Mary, at some point this is all going to come to an end. I trust that all the signs you owe customers are done and shipped?????? I trust that everyone has been refunded fully-yes?????

Oh by the way-just for legitamacy's sake the case number is PP-576-161-869. Anyone who has a pending dispute/claim thru paypal against Bootlegger's Bluff is assigned a Case number that is laid out just like this one. Science Fiction couldn't make this stuff up.
Instead of debating with me (which is real dumb) why don't you go make Druscilla's signs!!!! Wow, what a novel idea!

Again, Ms. Ciciotti is paid in full. I have the copies and she knows it!!!!!!! Tina never had a claim with me, consumer suggestion. Never sold her a thing. The website was closed so KRISTEEN could have a fresh start and because of my illness. AGAIN, TELL IT LIKE IT REALLY IS. THOUGHT YOU WERE ON VACATION????

There are some wonderful ideas on this website alone about how a business owner can redeem themselves. How to effectively run a business, etc....instead of debating with me, wouldn't the time be best spent educating yourself on what exactly Consumer Satisfaction means????


This is NOT just a me thing-----Laura, Tina, Debbie, Shawn---these individuals also filed reports/complaints, yet to date you still have not bothered to respond to any of their issues. To date, not one of them has filed an UPDATE which states that they have been reimbursed or that they have received their products-NOT A ONE. The only reason you continue to answer through this site in respects to me is because I pose the most significant threat. I left no stone unturned in this matter.

If you don't owe me money then all all of the claims thru PayPal should be closed, but they are NOT.

Again, she still states I owe her money??? DONT OWE HER A DIME AND HAVE THE PROOF. NO, People are not guilty by association??????? She had a bogus customer contact me and ask for a mailing address, so the bogus customer rec'd a bogus address, simply stated. SHE IMPLICATED THEM IN HER TITLES AND HER ANSWERS HERE, with NO PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE. If we were all guilty by association, then wowsa....lots of people would have some pretty checkered pasts now wouldnt they? The truth is you cant name names and addresses and then link them to fraud and cirles of theft. I think you are probably going to find this out in the very near future?????

Wow!!!!! I love being lectured on "Rules" especially from an individual who took other people's money, made no attempt in a "timely manner" to refund them....continued to offer excuses instead of quick refunds or products......and she wants to stress the importance of RULES?????

I'm untouchable for many reasons.....1). I'm not alone. 2). The Owner Mary Peck provided a middle man (PayPal) with a phony tracking number-then several weeks later admits in an e-mail that she never shipped said items. 3). As a consumer I have the right to make anyone & everyone aware of WHO, WHAT, WHERE & WHEN. I didn't implicate anyone....anyone who chose to involve themselves with Mary Peck on a business level implicated themselves.....it's called guilty by association. So perhaps in the future when we e-mail prospective customers friends addresses so that they can mail payments we should think and consider how this may impact that person. I certainly would not appreciate a friend and/or relative using my address and name to secure payments. What if the customer is nuts??? What is they are displeased with the items or service. They are going to come looking for you at the address YOU GAVE THEM!

There is one more matter which I take issue with. The woman who placed the WHOLESALE order who paid $263.00 or $300.00, can you explain why she has to wait until your check comes in to be reimbursed???? What did you do with her money? It couldn't be anymore obvious. If you accepted money 2 or 3 months ago.....you haven't delivered their goods and they are still waiting for a refund until your (check) comes in then clearly you used this woman's money for which it was not intended.

Why don't you cease trying to patronize people and insult their intelligence. The botom line here is the moment you accepted the funds from a customer you accepted the responsibility associated with it. You were to make the goods and then ship the goods (pretty simple stuff.) NO, you took the money-spent the money, didn't make or ship the items.....had to be hunted down repeatedly by customers and all they got was a ration of excuses and lies.........Now, if people wanted to buy excuses Bootlegger's Bluff would be the perfect place to go, but see Mary, people thought they were purchasing signs....because that's what your website says it sells.....NOT EXCUSES-----SIGNS!

In closing, keep the money, you obviously need it more than I do. This isn't about $$$$$$ this is about principles-this is about honesty-this is about good business ethics....and if you don't get it by now, you never will. The folks on here who also filed reports know what I'm talking about, your credibility is shot! I don't owe them money or signs-YOU DO!!!!!

You're not the victim, so pull your big girl panties up and deal with it! Good luck, you're going to need it.

Going on vacation after being emailed copy of paypal letter with payments made to her

Recently Ms. c was emailed a copy of a letter rec'd from paypal stating all payments made to her from bootleggers bluff. I assume she didnt think these emails were kept???? Now she is GOING ON VACATION????? I have spoken to local law officer and was informed she can be charged with filing false reports with all these agencies she filed reports with. You see, if she was the one filing the reports and giving false info such as not being paid, she was not HONEST. She is aware of this and now is aware that we have all correspondence from paypal saved showing she has been untruthful about this matter. She was sent the same letters from paypal as I was sent, so she KNOWINGLY reported false information about this matter. There was no GLITCH for the return of money she sent to me as well. I have a letter from paypal where she asks them to please ask me to return this refund to her because of her haste in sending it back to me. There was no GLITCH. She did it so as to keep the harrassment of me going thinking by doing this, she would be unpaid. The truth of the matter is though, I sent her the payment in good faith, she accepted the payment and then several days later returned one payment to me.
I am done with this matter as well , she states why did I keep writing to this forum? Well, I kept writing to this forum because she made false accusations and THE TRUTH NEEDED TOLD!!!! I did tell the truth, the good along with the bad. I told that I still owed deb money and was making payments to her, I told the truth about what happened to cause such things to happen . MS C kept making STATEMENTS THAT WERE NOT TRUTHFUL and I felt If she could take up space in this forum with untrue statements, that I could present the FACTS AS WELL IN DETAIL SO THERE WAS NO MISUNDERSTANDING. I FEEL I DID THIS. If there are some customers out there that did not get refunded or their product yet, I am truly sorry. We did attempt to remedy that problem by posting HUGE NOTICE ON WEBSITE THAT WE WOULD STILL OFFER YOU PRODUCTS AND ETC IF YOU WOULD CONTACT US. EMAILS WERE SENT TO CUSTOMERS AS WELL TO TRY AND CONTACT THEM. There are still many products being sent out as we speak and will continue to be sent out until I feel that everyone has been taken care of. SO, ALL I DID WAS RESPOND TO THE POSTS HERE AND TELL THE TRUTH. There is only one other thing I wish to address before putting this matter to bed and that is the innocent names of other individuals who so flippantly have been thrown about in this forum by Ms. c and others as well. These people have had absolutely NO INVOLVEMENT IN BOOTLEGGERS BLUFF. Yet they have been named as being in a circle of theft and fraud, possible tax evasion and etc. even going so far as to put one persons HOME ADDRESS DOWN. This was so uncalled for and as you can see was done without a inch of truth???? So....yes, we will let the chips fall where they may, it mite turn out much different than all think?????

As fun as it is going back and forth over this, I'm going on Vacation. I want to wish everyone who had the same "lovely experience" I had with Bootlegger's Bluff, the very best.

I can inject one simple point of reassurance. Every Consumer Agency at this point has been contacted. I've made myself available to those of you who have been impacted as well. Let the chips fall where they may.

No one should ever be subjected to this kind of nonsense. People work hard for their money, they deserve the best in respects to customer service and satisfaction. Individuals should not be subjected to laundry lists provided by sellers regarding personal problems, weather-related issues, and phony tracking numbers-this is unacceptable. This is what seperates the women from the little girls. Accountability. What I find interesting is it takes the seller seconds to pull the money and months to refund or ship out items. I suppose we need to ask ourselves who's interest is really being served in this case. A point I made several postings ago was I have dealt with numerous web-based businesses in my time and many will not take the customers money until the items have in fact shipped and there is a verifiable tracking number posted on the PayPal site-these are the kinds of people you want to do business with.

Quite frankly, I could care less what happens to Bootleggers Bluff---if it ended up on this site with several complaints-that in and of itself should be a clear indicator that you should stay away! The best part is when you search this business now-immediately under it is a consumer complaint-this couldn't have worked out any better.

The owner just doesn't get it.........this mess is the end result of a business owner who took people's money, never shipped products, lied to the agency who collects the money on her behalf and then spends countless hours debating the point on this site. Are we to assume that everyone has been reimbursed now???? Talk about adding insult to injury! Adios!

There is shawn whom I havent been able to contact and if you have contacted the website there isnt even you anymore? There is one person that is still rec'ing payments and that it IT!!!!!!
More exaggerations on her part. SHe knows she is paid in full. She is going to show u emails that do not cover the whole transactions, but I have them all, so look me up if you want the truth on this particular customer.

I have invited anyone and everyone to contact me via e-mail at this point. I have a report from Paypal which clearly states that you still owe me money!!!!!!!!!! The 3 claims are still opened. Just because there was a "glitch" when you attempted to refund a small portion of what you owed and it was reversed back to you-doesn't mean you still don't owe it.............you have been instructed numerous times by PayPal to Pay up! I've got proof what've you got but a bag full of excuses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You give decent business owners a bad name!

Number one It isnt over $300.00, the total purchase was 263,00 of which there is a balance due of 223.00. Again with me making a large payment to this lady today after putting my check in the bank. Deb knows she is getting payments and is going to be paid in full. She has been told so. So, it isnt over $300.00. People should be wary of taking all brockport NY comments to heart many are exaggerated as this one, IF its just not the whole truth, then it shouldnt be posted here!!!!! She either exaggerates or just has completely untrue facts!!!

ANOTHER THING, ON THE WEBSITE IT SAYS 35.00, BUT WHEN CONTACTED SHE HAS BEEN HONORING PURCHASES TOTALING MORE THAN THIS. '

You havent talked to to many of the old customers or you would know they have thier refunds or their signs or have signed up to get them? So, lets keep it factual and not inflated.

MS CICIOTTI JUST BELITTLES ALL THAT KRISTEEN HAS BEEN TRYING TO DO FOR THE OLD CUSTOMERS. See she really doesnt know all the facts as she claims to know because if so, SHE WOULDNT BELABOR THE POINT OF THE 35.00 WORTH OF PRODUCT? Many customers have rec'd over that amount, and also the shipping of all products has been free of charge as well.

I am going to try and get kristeen to sell the "business" part of this website back to me for 1.00 so she is free to go on with her life and open a website of her own with no "business" ties to bootleggers bluff anymore, I have told her the stencils, supplies and inventory she purchased from me are hers to keep for the signs she has shipped out to previous customers. She will no longer be associated to bootleggers bluff at all. This is the fair thing to do for kristeen. SO HERE IS THE WAY I LOOK AT IT. IF KRISTEEN AQUIRED ALL MY DEBTS WHEN SHE BOUGHT FROM ME, THEN I AM AQUIRING ALL THOSE DEBTS FROM HER AGAIN? ISNT THIS WHAT MS CICIOTTI IMPLYS? SO, THIS WILL FREE KRISTEEN TO TAKE ALL SHE BOUGHT FROM ME IN SUPPLIES AND ETC. AND REOPEN HER OWN BUSINESS FREE OF ANY DEBTS INCURRED THROUGH BOOTLEGGERS BLUFF, because everybody says that whomever buys the business buys the debts.

SO NOW MS CICIOTTI, WHOM I OWE NOT ONE RED CENT TO? YOU CAN START HARRASSING ME AGAIN WHICH IS WHAT YOU WERE TRYING TO DO THROUGH KRISTEEN ANYWAY?????? You see I paid you in full and you sent back a refund to me?????? I dont owe you a dime. You fail to tell all that you sent the money back to me and then called paypal and told them that you didnt know how to handle refunds and would they ask me IF I WOULD SEND IT BACK TO YOU. They couldnt demand that I do because you had it , accepted it and then you sent it back to me. ITS FUNNY THOUGH, YOU HAD REC'D TWO TO THREE REFUNDS FROM ME ALLREADY AND ACCEPTED AND "KEPT" THEM PREVIOUSLY TO THIS WITH NO PROBLEM???? But, if you were paid in full, you would have no reason to continue to harass me anymore, isnt that right? So, kristeen will continue to send the signs back to the customers that had allready contacted her but there will be no other offers from her now at all. I intend to buy the business end back from her and then close the website. All previous customers can still contact me through my email that have REMAINING BUSINESS WITH ME and I will still make sure they receive their products. GOOD LUCK KRISTEEN.

Up to $35.00........is what it says. You have a woman on this site who ordered over $300.00 worth of signs. What about her??? What about the other customers who ordered over $35.00 worth of stuff-what about them????? Who are you to set the limit???? There are prior customers of Bootlegger's Bluff who have been waiting months for signs and or refunds!!!! Spare me the rhetoric already. Instead of arguing with everyone on here, fix it.....it's that simple. Enough is enough, because no matter how many times we chop this up and put it back together again-it will always come back on Bootlegger's Bluff, this is the consequence for not honoring customer purchases. Yeah. I can read......it alse says over and over on your site that customer satisfaction is guaranteed-is it-is it really????? Duh!

MS CICIOTTI, You state above the right thing to do is honor old purchases and right the wrong? DONT U EVEN LOOK AT THE WEBSITE? Since the first part of January BIG NOTICE STATING to get in touch and let the owner know what you ordered and if you didnt get it she will honor the purchase??? JEEZZZZ this is truly getting old. DONT anyone know what they are talking about before they say it?
SHE HAS POSTED IN HUGE LETTERS TO LET HER KNOW WHAT IT WAS, SHE WILL HONOR THE PURCHASE!!!!! Isnt that just exactly what you state above she hasnt done?
Also to be fair, I didnt give out my order information to anyone, I am supposed to protect that information as confidential, she asked all to let her know what they ordered and she would replace it no questions asked. All she asked was when they contacted her that they be honest because she was flying blind with only their word as to what they didnt get or didnt get a refund.
If she has had a question about someone, she has asked me and I would only confirm it was correct.
I just feel that people gave me that information and I shouldnt give it out to anyone else. So, this is how we are doing this. If she isnt sure about someone, she asks me, and I go through my records as well as paypal to see if refunded and let her know.
PLEASE BEFORE STATING THINGS , CHECK IT OUT !

Let me explain something to you. How many people want to do business with a Company called ENRON today????? Zero, would be my guess. Having said this, Bootlegger's Bluff has acquired quite a nasty reputation and quite frankly, there isn't whole lot you can do about it. Once bitten-twice shy, reputation is about 99.9% of your advertising. Given the fact that our economy is so volatile to begin with and people really aren't spending money like they once did, this poses and additional strain on this web based business, not to mention the fact that there are 100's of you out there. What makes you "Exclusive" is the trail of disgusted & angry previous customers, and they tell their friends and they tell their friends and then the next thing you know your business name is all over the internet as being fraudulent, etc, etc....see how it works???
I can tell you with 100% certainty that the address you've stated on both yours and this site Does Not Exist. So here is what you need to do instead of looking all frustrated and embarrased. You need to legitimitize yourself. On your website, like the real professionals, list your true first and last name, give a real address, a real phone number-set yourself up with PayPal as a verifiable Seller, things like that. Bootlegger's Bluff has raised so much suspicion, who in their right mind would want to do business with you. Now, you can argue this point all day long about old customer complaints, etc...and how it has nothing to do with the new owner, blah, blah, blah......not good PR on your part. You would have been much better off telling each and every customer that because you are a respectful business owner and you care about the success of your business and yes CUSTOMER SATISFATION-you will take the steps necessary to right the wrong that's been done. Here's the other thing that has many of us so baffled---if you're broke and wont refund these people their money (not your money) why haven't you at least talked to them directly-ship them their signs?????? I'm mean really, what do you expect???? If someone took you for over $300.00, would you want a Mary Peck answer or a Professional one?????

NUmber one, The new owners name IS NOT julia peck. As far as I know there is no julia peck in the town in which we live or any relative of mine named julia peck. Number two, There is no address listed on website and the new owners address is 15499 NOT THE PREVIOUS ADDRESS OF 15491. Please check facts better, it really makes things appear as they arent. The domain name at go daddy was not changed as it was up in just a few months, So, we didnt bother with the godaddy domain address and name. I spoke to diye stores about this and they said it really didnt matter whatever we decided to do about that and when the yearly rental was due for the domain name we could just do it at that time. So, all the investigations and time spent was for naught because it was useless in tracking down any information. For everyones information out there that even cares anymore...My name is not julie peck, julie bride or anything remotely like that. I have a totally different first and last name of any mentioned at all. Previous owner says this consumer complaint was probably made by tina who owns another website that sells signs and same items as we offer on our site.

Maiden name of original owner "Bride" is the same last name of new owner as found through research of whitepages reverse look up of address provided on website, godaddy ownership of the domain and researching the names Mary Bride Peck and Julia Peck of Ottumwa, Iowa.

There may be a pattern as there was a seller on etsy and ebay name Whiskey Ridge Primitives selling the same "exclusive" designs prior to Bootleggers Bluff opening and selling these "exclusive" designs.

I have been the NEW OWNER of this company Since Jan 2, 2009 and have no knowledge of this complaint. I am sorry about this matter but IT DOES NOT APPLY to my business.
I assume I am going to be forced to change my website name in order to conduct business of any kind.
