I too feel like I have been ripped off by Brinks home security. I was moving from California to North Carolina and called Brinks to cancel the service. I was suprised to find out that they said I had two more years on my contract. Their sales represenatives should fully explain and disclose what the contract says and not make you hunt for all the in's and out's of the contract. They should just be honest up front! They told me that I could put it on hold until we bought a house. When I called to tell them that we had a house the young man that worked for Brinks told me excitedly that that they would cancel the remainder of my contract. Then he went on to tell me that they would give me a New contract for 3 Years. I only had 18 months left on the old contract and they were "kind enough to cancel my old contract and start me with a 3 year contract.

I raised a fuss said that I would like to speak to a supervisor. The young man informed me that it wouldn't change things, but gave me the number of a supervisor. The supervisor told me that he would only make me have a 2 year contract. Now I feel like a prisoner to Brinks. What if we never bought another home?? From reading other complaints about brinks I see that I will have to cancel 30 days before the contract expires. This seems like deception to me. They WANT people to miss the date to cancel the contract because they can sneer you for another year. Why don't they send out reminder notices when your acontact is about to expire??? I have a really bad taste in my mouth for Brinks and feel like they are a deceptive company. As soon as my contract expires I will definitly not renew with Brinks. This is not how you build customer loyality.

As far as their service for the year and 1/2 I have no complaints there, only their deceptive practices. It's a shame because I would have like to continue their services, but don't want to deal with a dishonest company that entraps people.

moving with BRINKS SYSTEM

one thing that bothers me with these contract complants is no one talks about how they paid little or nothing for the equipment or installation of the system they expect to get a free system and be able to stop paying for the contract (that they signed) how does anyone expect a company to stay in business that way

Your experience was not much like others I've heard of. I am an expert witness in this industry and have dealt with this from the "inside" Brinks has the strongest move policy in the industry with a free premium system (basic) install, only after one year, provided you do have another 3-year agreement.

Brinks gave you a 2 year with your move, great job, they didn't have to. (((competitor's neme redacted))) requires two years before they give you their move discount and it's only $100. In either situation when an alarm company signs someone up, most do a "3 year" to hopefully make something on the work and equipment. (((redacted))) mandates that you give the name and contact information to them when you move to even qualify for their move discount.

Brinks won't raise your monthly ever unless you move or someone else takes over your system. No one else has that.

sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company your comments on this policy are welcome!
