On January 17, 2009 My wife and I arrived at the Budget office at 416 West Georgia Street, Vancouver British Columbia. We were to pick up a vehicle we had reserved online (Contract # 1180215). The vehicle we were given was a Toyota Corolla. When we went out to check it out I noticed that it was very dirty on the inside and had dings and scratches on the body. I pointed out the damage I saw on the car and we checked it out. I was dressed nice to go out to dinner and not prepared to look under the car on my knees. The attendant did not look under the car either. We returned it to the Vancouver Airport on January 19th. When we checked it in the attendant got on his knees and pointed out that there was a a very small crack on the very bottom of the front bumper plastic. It was was very small and not visibly unless you got on your knees and looked under the front of the car. I was charged at that time for damaging the car. I did not damage the car in any way. I would have no problem paying for the damage if I had in fact done it. I did not in any way damage the car. This vehicle has over 24,000 Kilometers on it. It has obviously been rented out many many times and is not new vehicle. I was surprised by the poor condition of the vehicle when we picked it up. They charged me $611.11 on top of the rental cost for damaging the car. I filed a complaint on with the Better Business Bureau of Mainland British Columbia reference # 1223952.
I have tried to resolve this by filing a dispute with Budget Rent a car. I have faxed and mailed this information to them. They have a scam going on if they do not check the car well going out then charge people for damage that was already there.

This happened to me

AUTHOR: Ed - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, May 10, 2010

Hi Dave, that same incident happened to me and my family.  We were also defenseless since we had to catch our flight back to Los Angeles.  You can read my ripoff report which i filed on 3/8/07.  I am curious if you ever resolved this problem or if there is anything we can do together.
