I applied for a payday loan online and got a call back from these people saying they were from California cash advance and that I had been approved for a 2000 loan at 150 a month for 15 months. Right off the bat it sounded a little iffy to me because I only asked for 300, and because usually on a 300 loan I pay 90 in interest rate 15 months at 150 is something like 2250. Sounds way to good for someone who has a credit score as low as I do. Despite the fishyness I decided to at least hear what they had to say since they already had most my info from the application I turned in. Red flag number one: once we got to talking about terms and conditions they never once told me that the call was being recorded. I've gotten payday loans online before and when they call they always record the call. Red flag number two: once we got to going over my information from my application they never asked me for the routing number to my bank. How are they supposed to send me any money with only my account number? Red flag number three: they asked how much I made a month but they never asked where I worked at. Everytime I've ever gotten a payday loan I either had to fax paystubs or they called my job just to verify I had a job. The deal breaker: they said I needed to put down a deposit of 150 just to make sure that I am a person who will pay this amount every month and that it will be sent back to me with the loan. hmmm ok that didn't make any sense if I had to put something down why would it be returned why wouldn't it just be applied to the payment of the loan? Then they told to go to the nearest western union to send the 150 and that every payment there after would have to be sent western union and that the 20 fee to send that money would not be refunded. Yea ok that's 150 I WONT be sending. I really wish I did have it to spare tho just so I could see what happens
