Took my van to a tranny repair shop and automotive electrician, who both after tranny specific diagnosis, told me the TCM needed replaced. Trying to save money, I purchased a TCM for my 2001 Chrysler Town and Country from Car Computer Exchange (CCE) and was told it was a plug and play piece. After I received it, I had it installed and unfortunately, the van still operated in limp mode (immediately upon backing it out of my drive-way) . I immediately called CCE ( talked with Brian) and was told to return it, that they would check it out, so I sent it in the mail back to them. Called CCE (Brian) to check on analysis of TCM I returned, and was told that the technicians tested it and there was nothing wrong with it and they would replace the chip just to make sure ( in case there was a problem with the chip when it was initially flashed by them ). After an extended period of time- almost 10 days (apparently there were problems with CCE shipping back out) I finally got the same TCM back from CCE. Took it to repair shop to have it installed by a mechanic and much to my disappointment, the van did the same thing. Finally took it to a Chrysler dealer for dignosis and was told the TCM is bad, and that due to it not working properly it forces the van in limp mode and will not hold a code for further analysis by Chrysler dealer. Contacted CCE to ask for a refund and my old TCM back (sent it in as a core for the warranty) because this is the second time the part doesn't work and have been told this by more than one mechnic. Was told ( by Brian) initally they would take the part back and analyze it and check it out ( but that involves taking the piece off the van and sending it back and waiting for them to analyze it and re-send it back to me...and the last time we did this it took 10+ days--so I would be without a car all this time). I asked Brian to ask "the higher ups" if I could just have a refund instead. I really did not want to keep sending the TCM back and forth and was anxious to get the problem resolved. After trying to get a hold of them for a few days ( often no one answers and the answering machine comes on or you have to keep calling back to get a live person) I finally got back in touch with Brian, he told me they said, "no refund". So after thinking about it for a few days I called CCE back to take them up on the offer to send it back and have it analyzed another time, but I asked if they could send out another TCM for me to use in my van unitl they can analyze and return this one and now Brian is saying he doesn't know if they will take the TCM back for analysis and will have to see (but several days ago this is the offer that was made to me in lieu of a refund). At this point I would just like a refund of my $220.00. Long story short...do not waste your money on these parts...get dealer specific parts that are specific to your car. Thought that by ordering on line it would save me some money, but it has actually cost me money to diagnosis with another mechnic and aggravation. The Chrysler TCM is only $307.00 and the one from CCE was $220., hardly worth the trouble I have experience. Don't waste your time!!! If all else fails, contact the Attorney General in NC and file a complaint. (http://ncdoj.com/complaint.aspx)
