I am a single mother and have been desperately looking for a job. I went to Craig's List to see if anyone was hiring in my area. To my surprise there were many jobs hiring, good pay too. I clicked on the job info to apply and it sent me to this website
www.career-network.com saying I had to put my info in. Dumb me thinking it was legit put ALL my info in AND my references. I did think it was odd to ask me about my cell info and if I wanted info on furthering my education. They went as far as to send me fake emails from a HR department saying I had to go back to the site and fill in more info because they were interested in me. These websites need to be STOPPED! I have wasted all this time filling out fake job applications when I could have been looking for a real job! Not to mention now my inbox has been bombarded with junk!

Be careful with Craigslist

AUTHOR: Giselle - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 08, 2008

Craigslist is used by a lot of legitimate employers because its quick, convenient and in most cities, free. And if not, free, the cost is a lot less than running a newspaper ad or putting something on monster. Having said that, I will also say that here are A LOT of bogus job ads on Craigslist. I've wasted time applying for jobs only to find out is a scammer. You just have to be careful. I have found that the ads that have a gmail address are generally bogus and the ads that ask you to apply at a bizarre website, like 3ksjfgfdkdj.com (this is just a made-up exmple) are fake. I always check the registration when the ad takes me to an unknown website and generally I find the site has been registered somewhere like Singapore OR, the owner is hiding behind a private registration to mask his/her identity. Thos ads I flag and I definitely do not apply.
