Career Step Disappointing Course Nationwide

I enrolled in the Medical Coding and Billing course.  I wish I had listened to my gut when it was telling me to cancel while I still could get a refund.

I found this course to be monotonous.  Each unit consisted of a series of reading assignments and exercises.   I fell this subject matter would be taught in a classroom or a more interactive online course.

I was led to believe that this course could be completed in 4 to 5 months if I worked on it full time.   I have been working almost full time on the course and here I am 10 months later and still haven’t made it to the final.    I consider my self an accomplished learner, I have 2 master’s degrees and I am not sure  I ever could have completed this course in 4-5 months.   I was actually hoping to complete the course in 6 months and even that goal eluded me.

So in short, I have given up on completing this course.  This whole experience has soured me on Medical Coding and Billing.   If you are considering a career in this field, I recommend you look at offerings at your local community college.   If that is not a possibility, I recommend you look at a more interactive online course than is offered by Career Step.   For me, I wish I had made a different choice and saved the money (close to $4000.00).
