HR Privette ripoff of deposit .....
As an update to all of the complaints regarding Carolina Furniture & H.R. Privette, I spoke with Grace at the US Postal Inspection Service today and asked her why their office had not responded to my on line complaint form that I had filed with them in November of 2002.
They did not have a record of my form informing them of mail fraud by Mr. Privette & Carolina furniture, so I faxed them a copy of what I had sent via the on line form.
They are very interested in hearing from other people who have been swindled by Mr. Privette. You can reach Grace at 312-669-5663. This is the Chicago location of the US Postal Inspection Service. When calling you need to make sure that you are connected to the "Fraud" department. Ypu can also find the on line form at:

FraudComplaint.htm
I feel that you have a better chance of getting action from them via a direct phone call versus the on line filing method. Grace indicated that they were not aware of the magnitude of this mail fraud problem with Carolina Furnitue. In addition to faxing her a copy of my form, I also faxed her a copy of the news article referencing the arrest of Mr. Privette.
I have been told by other people that mail fraud, if convictions are leveled, carries some very significant ramifications to the guilty parties. You probably have nothing to lose by using this method to file some additional charges.
The AG's office in NC does not have the authority to file charges against Mr. Privette. This has to be done by local or federal agents...including the US Postal Service.
I hope everyone using the Rip Off Forum files something with the US Postal Inspection Service.

Carolina Furniture - Question to Janie in Roswell, GA
AUTHOR: Cindy - (U.S.A.)

It seems that Janie, in Roswell, GA had success via an attorney, in collecting her deposit back. While we are all waiting for the proverbial golden horseshoe to fall out of the sky and hit HR in the head, is it possible for Jamie to let us know who the attorney was that she used...was he/she in NC? Please send that info directly to EDitor@ripoffreport.com so they can see if this lawyer can help other victims too.
Thanks

Carolina Furniture - Update on arrest charges
AUTHOR: Cindy - (U.S.A.)

I was told today, 2/28/03, that there was apparently some issues in the way the charges against Mr. Privette were filed in terms of his recent arrest, and that there is a very strong possibility that all current charges will be dropped. I am not sure if it was a Brunswick County screw up or a federal screw up.
