Carpet King Classic Bait and Switch Minneapolis, Minnesota

I went to Carpet King with my room dimensions and a bid from two other stores. Carpet King came in well below their competitors. I went back to the store to buy the carpet and they told me that I couldn't get the carpet for that price because I had given then incorrect room dimensions. I showed them the paperwork and we determined that they had made the error. I enquirer if they would stand behind their bid and was told that they couldn't do it but for about $200 more I could have it.

They installed the carpet and both my husband and I could tell right away that it was not the same carpet they had shown us in the store. I returned to the store and was given the run around for weeks before I got the Better Business Bureau involved. Two people from the BBB, Giuliano Pascu (customer service), and William Bailey (president of Carpet King) were present. The Better Business Bureau arbitrator ruled that Carpet King had switched carpets and ordered them to replace the carpet with the one that they had sold me. They also wanted me to sign a form for Carpet King so they could submit a claim to StainMaster and be reimbursed for the cost of the first carpet they had installed. On the form they were claiming the carpet was defective and that was why it was being replaced.

I refused to sign the form and took Carpet King to court. Hundreds of dollars and hours later I still have the cheap carpet. Do not believe they will install the carpet that you purchase from them. Keep the carpet samples they show you and compare. They were dishonest all the way from the sales person to the president of this company.

Even if it seems like it is costing more to go with a different company you will be saving money and peace of mind to deal with someone else!
