I booked a trip through Cheaptickets.com, in September 2016.  It included airfare for two, 2 nights hotel stay, and a rental car.  On the way to the airport, Delta called and my initial flight had been cancelled.  I pulled over and called Delta, and they said they would be unable to find me a way into my final destination that day, or even the next day.  Delta cancelled the flight, as they had mechanical issues with the plane.

I called and cancelled the hotels directly.  The airline cancelled the flight through cheaptickets.com.  I cancelled the car rental through cheaptickets.com.  Not only that, but I was heartbroken as we had saved for this trip, had taken time off of work, etc.  It was a nightmare.

But the nightmare didn't end with the cancelled trip.  I called cheaptickets.com and they said the whole thingis non-refundable, except the car rental.  They refunded me that.  The airline tickets, the 2 nights hotel stay (we had also booked an AIRNB house that wouldn't refund our money), all non refundable.

It is against the Department of Transportation laws to not issue a refund when an airline cancels a flight.  I had no choice about the hotel stays, which were to be the night I landed and the night before I left out on an early return flight coming back.

I called Delta and they were apologetic, rebooked the flights for free.  The hotel stays - all lost money.  Plus the AIRNB house rental sat empty and I received no refund on that.

So Delta rebooked the flights for free - but again I am paying for new places to stay for each and every night I am staying on my trip.  Lost 5 nights, buying 5 more nights.

I will never use Cheaptickets.com again.  They rip you off, keep your money, and laugh in your face.  Even when the airline cancels your flights.

NOT Prepaid

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, November 09, 2016

Wrong.  The hotel received no payment.  The airlines received no payment. These weren't prepaid services.  With some companies, like hotels.com and expedia, they are prepaid. Not with cheaptickets.  I talked to the hotel manager and he said they do not receive any payment unitl the guest checks out.

Having said that, Delta gave us free tickets when I emailed an executive about what happened.  Delta and its excellent customer service has won us over.

Lesson learned.

Prepaid.......

YOU have NOT been ripped off. Not when YOU consider that YOU made a PREPAID PURCHASE!!!! And THAT is what YOU DID!!!! Sorry to hear that YOU have had so much difficulty during your vacation but there IS a reality here that YOU are ignoring in favor of playing the best victim possible. YOU WERE TOLD the reason WHY you are not going to get a refund. I know this because I had a similar incident a few months ago trying to fly a family member out for a visit. The ONLY difference between the two tales is that I didnt have to use AIRBNB. I also used a domestic carrier, they also cancelled the flight. The airline was kind enough to put the family member up for the night and rebooked for a new flight the next day. But the minivan rental was NOT refunded. The airport pick up was not refunded. When I called and asked they told me that my purchases were a PREPAID service. Just like a prepaid phone airtime. You bought it, its YOURS and NO REFUNDS!!! Yes it kind of sucks but what are you expecting?? In order to get the tickets at that CHEAP price it MUST be prepaid. So maybe try and be a bit more aware of WHAT you are purchasing and if you have ANY questions call THEM AND ASK!!! On the next trip out to visit me, my relative and I are going to make sure that there IS a recourse if LIFE happens. We will be sure to ask if its a PREPAID TICKET.
