CHQ Software Fraudulent Business Abbotsford, British Columbia

I made the mistake of ordering a military jeep technical manual for my non-profit group through CHQ Software.  Fortunately, my error only cost me $13.95 (US).

CHQ Software has a very impressive website; I was able to verify the accuracy of the technical manual number through archived military records and sources.  The website design is obviously the work of someone who has taken a great deal of time and effort to present themselves as professional and reputable.  It was a fine piece of bait!

Shortly after placing the order and paying for it with my bank debit cardI received an e-mail reply that included the order number, with instructions for downloading the product. This is where things went wrong.

When I went to the CHQ website to access my account/order information, I followed the instructions to download the file.  It did not work despite repeated efforts on my part.  The link obviously is inactive and a fake.  Needless to say, CHQ Software ripped me off.

I e-mailed and called the company and have yet to receive a reply.  I even called another telephone number listed on the internet, and did speak with someone - who isn't associated with CHQ!

Lesson learned: check on the internet through sources such as Ripoff Report before placing an order with any company that does not have a clear-cut reputation as a bona-fide business.  This is the first time this has happened to me, fortunately, but a lesson learned nonetheless.
