CIC Credit Monitor Services ripoff hidden membership of $79.95 of "free" credit report Orange California

In January of 2004 I used an online company to receive two free credit reports for myself and my boyfriend. On February 2, 2004, a withdraw was made from my accountr from: CIC*CREDIT MONITOR800-220-2626. This was not the company I had used to get my credit reports, so I had no idea what this withdraw was from.

I called the number listed on the withdraw, but the person I spoke to said that there were no accounts under my name, card number, etc. I then called the company I had used to get my credit reports. They told me that they went through CIC Credit Monitor to get the reports, and I would have to talk to them in order to get a refund.

After getting nowhere with the information I had, I searched online for more information and found this website, where I learned that hundreds of other people have had the same problems with CIC Credit Monitor. I found the number 1-888-888-8553 on this site and called it today. After talking to Ruth #62358 and telling her that I never signed up for any membership, nor did I accept any charges for the membership, I was allowed to cancel my membership and told I would be refunded for $68.56 within 7-10 days. This is the prorated amount of my membership that I used.

I wish I had found this website sooner so I could have gotten a full refund. I'm sure if I persued the issue farther, I could still get a full refund, but I simply do not have the time. I hope that more people will pay attention to what they are signing up for online, and not make the same mistake I did.
