CIC* Credit Monitor SVC ripoff-charged $79.99 on 3/8/04 and 3/9/04 for free credit report Orange California

While browsing the web, I noticed an offer for a free credit report. I clicked on the item and received my "free" report. Today I received my Visa bill. On this bill, I noticed a charge of $79.95 on March 8, 2004 by CIC* Credit Monitor SVC and a second charge of $79.95 on March 9, 2004. At first I thought it was the charge for a monitor I bought from Dell. I called the telephone number listed beside the charges (1-800-220-2626). They said it was for a credit monitoring service to protect my credit from identity theft. I told them to remove these charges from my bill and cancel their records as I did not want this service.

I feel that this is a very misleading service. They should not tell you that you are receiving anything free if they intend to charge you for a service without your ok.

I need help getting these charges removed from my visa account. Thank you for listening and any help you may be in getting this situation resolved.
