CIC Credit Monitoring - consumerinfo.com ripoff fraudulent "free report" tactics used to trick consumers into subscription without their knowledge Orange California

Surfed over to www.consumerinfo.com via Yahoo and wanted a free report. This is completely legitimate because the federal government requires one free report per year.

I got my free report and was magically subscribed to a monthly service without my knowledge. After two months I saw it on my credit report.

First, I called CIC's 800 number to cancel and request my money back. I was on hold forever and then got cut-off. Other people reported this and my guess is, they have their phone system configured to test people's resolve.

I finally got Emily, she told me she cancelled my subscription. However, she said that she couldn't refund my money. I told her that it's poor business tactics, and she said that it's the consumer's responsibility. When I asked if she was saying that I should be aware beforehand that CIC cons their customers into subscriptions she didn't have a lot to say.

Then, I informed her I had seen on the web that I surfed while on hold that there were a lot of complaints against them along with a class-action suit. She didn't react to that and it failed to sway her in any way.

In the meantime, I've filed a web-based complaint with the Better Biz Bureau. I'm going to send a msg to the Joe at CAAN as listed on this website. I want to be part of the class-action suit so that we can right these kinds of wrongs.

I'm thinking that we should contact Yahoo so that Yahoo doesn't host ads for such questionable services.
