CIC Credit Monitoring, Consumerinfo.com ripoff Irvine California

My story is very similar to the others who have been ripped off by CIC Credit Monitoring. I looked at a credit card statement and noticed six months worth of mystery charges for $9.95 each from some strange company in California. Come to find they were auto-billing me for a service I never wanted because of a contract I never agreed to while viewing my "free" credit report online several months back.

IMPORTANT: If you too have fallen into this scam, you must be very careful when you call to cancel your account. You are entitled to a full refund but ONLY IF YOU DO NOT ACCESS YOUR ONLINE ACCOUNT WITH THEM. They will try to talk you into doing this by saying you should take advantage of the service you have already paid for.

This nullifies your claim that you have received nothing from them for your money! Also, they will offer you a "gift card" worth less than you have paid them so long as you keep your account open. Do not buy it. Demand to have your account cancelled that minute and ask for the name and Corporate ID of the person you speak with. Thereafter, monitor your credit card to make sure they refund your account and that no additional charges appear.

They told me that they can only refund 2 mos. of charges over the phone and that you must write to have additional charges refunded - but again, only if you have not accessed your account. The address is:
