This Messaage will explain the SCAM and tell you EXACTLY what to do to get ALL of your money back IMMEDIATELY!
I visited the site from an email offer I got from Excite. I usually trust them so when I saw the offer for a guaranteed 100% free credit report that also guaranteed you could view it INSTANTLY, I decided to check it out. I figured that with that blatant of a promise to be instant and without charge that they would never be brave enough to scam someone. I thought that if I was just cautious and read the entire page carefully I could make sure that I wasn't falling into a trap.
To make a long story short, I scrutinized every line of the pages with an eagle's eye. I never entered in my account information. I didn't even tell them the name of my bank. I know that I entered in the correct information, but when I submitted my form I was taken to a small message that did not even explain why I wasn't now viewing my credit report. It just said some generic nonsense about incorrect adresses and that I would be notified via email and postal mail with my credit report.
This alone made me furious. They had promised me an instant credit report and lied! I resolved to look into it further but I noticed there was no contact information clearly stated anywhere. Of course, it slipped my mind and I failed to go hold them accountable for my report... which never came in the mail. The next month when a 79.95 charge appeared on my account I was confused. I didn't even realize it was them until I called my bank to find out what the charge was. When I was told who it was and looked them up I became so enraged. How is this possible? They shouldn't even have my check card number. Most importantly, I wanted to know who was going to hold them accountable for this CRIME they had committed.
Well, here is what you need to do. BE CAREFUL and stand your position firmly. I got my money back but I want to see them shut down or in prison for stealing the earnings of honest hard working americans.
* STEP 1: Do NOT contact consumerinfo.com first and do NOT go back to their website. The first call you should make is to your bank or credit card company. Report the charge as an unauthorized charge to your account. Your bank will start the inquiry process and should contact them for you to get your money back. Why do this? Because, consumerinfo.com is expecting your call and has an entire department set up just to hand out refunds, but they are trained to deceive you and will get you to agree to a partial refund or convince you that you can do nothing. Do not fall for this. You are in control and you have the upper hand.
* STEP 2: Your bank will send you a form in the mail. It is very simple to complete. It will show the charge and the company and all you have to do is select one of three choices about what is wrong with the charge and then sign it and mail it back to them. Make sure you check the box for UNAUTHORIZED CHARGE. This will formally start the inquiry and your bank will handle it all for you. This documents the situation and CIC will have to LEGALLY respond to your bank. This reports them to authorities as have possibly commited a CRIME of theft or fraud against you. WE MUST HOLD THEM RESPONSIBLE OR IT WILL NOT STOP.
* STEP 3: The bank will give you the 800 number for CIC. NOW, you can call them. You have support and you have information. This makes you a threat to them. They will try to ask you for your social security number. REFUSE TO GIVE IT. Tell them only your name. If they start trying to run the conversation CUT THEM OFF and tell them to listen, Then shortly inform them that they stole money from your account and that you never authorized it and that you KNOW they have done it to many people. Inform them that you have ALREADY notified the authorities and your bank and that a LEGAL INQUIRY is already underway and WILL be persued no matter what. Then you tell them politely that you demand they reverse the charge and recredit your account for the 79.95 and also for any charges that may have occured as a result of NSF fees or bounced checks that they caused. Tell them that you are contacting them simply as a courtesy to give them an opportunity to show that they are willing to cooperate and rectify the situation... and that your bank will be contacting their legal department within 48 hours if they haven't already.
(You don't have to be rude or get nasty with them. But make sure that you are firm and unyeilding. Control the conversation and make them aware that this is not open for discussion and these are their only ooptions)
* STEP 4: They will probably agree to refund your account within 7 business days. Accept that, but don't stop there. You need to contact your bank after the charge is reversed and tell them that you want the matter persued and them to be held legally responsible. These people do this to MANY THOUSANDS of people. They expect to refund a majority of the charges, but they are making insane amounts of money just off the people who don't notice the charge on their statement or who don't think they have any reprocussion. It is our ethical responsibility to do what we can to stop this from happening from other innocent people. We need to not only inform members of our community of the danger, but also to proactively take a stand against the company legally so that they are shut down and hopefully even prosecuted for this.
I stress the fact that this will not cost you anymore money. If enough people simply contact their bank or credit card company and ask them to persue it legally, they will be asked to explain their actions in a court. This WILL end their streak of crimes against honest and unsuspecting Americans. As hokey and cheesy as it sounds, one voice does make a difference. You are not helpless and there is no need to feel like it is you against a big powerful company or that you don't know enough to follow through. All you have to know is that you are RIGHT and that what they are doing to people is WRONG. They know this, too.
Good luck and best wishes to everyone who was affected.
(NOTE: If I seem a little zealous in my feelings for this company and scam it's because I am. I am a southern boy and a mamma's boy. After they ripped me off, they did the same thing to my mother who makes a meager living, and is a SAINT in my eyes! :) I'm sure they are not scared of a 25 year old guy too much, but they apparently have never seen how we get when someone messes with our mommy! I'm out for blood now! HAHA. Good luck again! )

Sissy, Come On!
AUTHOR: Laura - (U.S.A.)

Sissy's rebuttal brings to light an interesting situation and another bad point of the company she is working for.
I worked my way through college for a year and a half (before I became thoroughly disgusted and quit) for a company which also poses as a legitimate business but, in fact, exists primarily to make money off unsuspecting consumers.
First, Sissy, just because they are your employer doesn't mean you need to defend them. You will feel better about yourself if you start working for an honest company.
Much of Sissy's response sounds like it is straight from the script employees of CIC are provided with. They memorize the script and repeat it until they believe it is true and valid. When you call CIC, you will be dealing with an employee who has been almost brain-washed into believing the company has done nothing wrong. They probably talk badly about the "stupid" or "ignorant" customers when they are not on the phone with them. They will give you their script and, if you dispute, you will be one of those ignorant customers who just can't understand a contract or an application. Probably everything they say has some element of truth; what they say may actually have been on the application. However, the company has specifically designed the application to be deceptive and misleading. Therefore, it is much better to have contacted both your bank and the BBB before calling. The company will usually settle with you rather than affording the expense of legal costs.
Customers who were angry at the company I worked at eventually got us ousted from the better business bureau, and several class action suits have cost the company millions. I believe it will one day go out of business, and this company can, too, if we persist.

How can I sleep? The audacity...
AUTHOR: James - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, June 05, 2003
I don't want to sit here and encourage this childish banter from "Sissy", but it is amazing to me that someone would actually defend this company. It is very sad that a person would condone or support this kind of behavior. What is wrong with this business philosophy? -- "Company offers consumer a product or service for a fair price and consumer purchases this product or service when they need it or want it"-- Just because an "agreement" is cleverly hidden out of sight or behind popups does not mean that it is honest and ethically sound!
You can sit here and pick apart everyone's grammar and typos, but the fact remains, our money was STOLEN from us. There is no other way to describe it. I NEVER entered in my credit card number. I had already fallen victem to a similar scheme over the phone a few years earlier, so I was leary. I plan on persuing this issue until I see some serious consequences handed out to CIC.
The worst part of this is I have YET to hear of or talk to a SINGLE person who actually got to view their credit report online. 90% of the people who were victems of THEFT by CIC never even got a credit report via mail. Explain this please. You should be disgusted with yourself... you pretend to offer people credit assistance and protection from fraud while secretly committing even worse crimes against them. I really wish that something would be done to EVERYONE in this market... the people who sell their "How to get rich ... " schemes on latenight TV ... the "rebuild your future..." promises... they are all evil. I cant think of another word but evil to describe someone who would prey on people who already are worried/concerned/stressed about their financial situation and seek to take even more money from them and put them in a worse situation. That is akin to seeking out starving people to steal food from!
Say what you like to try and rationalize your involvement with this CRIME RING and be able to look at yourself in the mirror, but don't be surprised when you end up in a prison cell one day wearing a nice orange jumpsuit. It's where you belong.
------AGAIN----------
If you have been ripped off by these people:
1- Call your bank and report it as an UNAUTHORIZED charge. Tell them this company has STOLEN from you and illegally charged your card.
2- Have your bank call Consumerinfo.com and also call yourself and inform them that they have no option but to refund your money. INCLUDING ALL NSFs or other fees this crime caused you to incur.
3- Once you have your refund CANCEL THE CARD it was charged to.
4- Contact your bank again and tell them you would like to follow up on the crime and have this company held legally accountable for what they have done to you.
5- Contact ANY law enforcement agency you can think of that should know about this.
DO NOT BELIEVE A WORD THEY SAY!

And there is no compliance department at consumer info...sorry
And sending an email to cancel your account. couldnt be bothered to call?... And its too bad you cant be bothered to clearly identify yourself it should be so easy to get anyones credit report.. if you dont like the way the system works then go directly to the agency to retrieve your reports see how easy that is...
and always remember you get what you pay for..

Sissy, I think you should check your spelling and grammar before telling someone they can't read.
Let's recap, shall we?
---------------------------------
"this is the fasted way" - do we mean "FASTEST"?
"and is does state on the application" - is="IT"?
"what is the oppisite of that" - oppisite = "OPPOSITE"?
"stoped" = "STOPPED"?
---------------------------------
Now that we've established the level of intelligence we're dealing with we can move on, shall we? Then again, I think that was apparent when we noted who you work for.
1. MANY, including myself, signed up for a free report and cancelled way before the 30 days was up and we were still charged.
I did read the fine print. I signed up for a free credit report. If I failed to cancel within 30-day trial I would then be charged $79.95 and become a member of the credit monitoring service. I cancelled on the 21st day via EMAIL and your company chose to process my cancellation on the 31st day. Yes, I conveniently received an email from them, over a week later, saying, Hello, we received you cancellation request and will process it. I immediately contacted my bank and guess what? They had posted $79.95 to my account the day before.
Maybe an idiot like you would consider that a coincidence? I am not the only one this has happened to.
I complained to the FTC, BBB and FBI Internet Fraud, Florida Dept Of Consumer Services, the media and 2 lawyers as well many other websites devoted to making the public aware of online fraud and guess what? The wonderful company you work for was held accountable and had to refund the $79.95 membership fee AND all the BOUNCED CHECK FEES I incurred because of the charge. I have the letter from your company. It's from Michelle Mimlitsch, her title is Manager Compliance. Also, it's on file with FL. Dept of Agriculture and Consumer Services, reference # 01-08-24070/CAL.
She wrote:

-------------------------------------------------
So what was that you were saying? They dont reimburse NSF fees? HA! WRONG! It takes a lot of time and effort to get anywhere with them. Proof such as my email helped.
Every part of their operation is a scam. What happened to the ONLINE INSTANT ACCESS CREDIT REPORT? Everything I've ever read seems to show that they can never verify anyone's identity so they pull the old "oops, got to send you a 2nd passcode in the U.S. Mail"...that takes up to 7 days and you better hope they send you the other code because they always seem to forget one or the other.....I had to call them for the one they were supposed to email me and we all know that you need both codes to access the report.
How convenient...seems to me like they deliberately delay you accessing that report. Before you know it. BAM! 30 days is up.
You may be asking yourself how did I win? Well, because I didn't listen to the loser on the phone that said I couldn't have my money back. Gee, is that what you do? I'm so sorry to offend you. My bad.
The ONLY reason I got all my money back is because I had saved all the emails showing the dates and I complained to everyone I could.
The point is: NO CONSUMER should have to go through this crap.
In my opinion, this company and anyone who defends them is equal to a maggot.

Just noticed that my title didn't show that the message contained a verified way to get the money that was stolen from you by CIC back. Please read my original message and it will tell you how to get your money back within days. You don't need to order anything from anyone. All you need to do is contact your BANK first and NOT consumerinfo.com . They are trained to talk you out of it and they are good. Your bank can demand your money back for you and handle a legal inquiry in court for them. Your bank will probably do ALL of this FOR YOU.... so don't feel overwhelmed! Good luck and best wishes!
