Like the previous woman was promised up to $40 an hour for tutoring, I was lured in by the same thing. once they send you to the fingerprint check you have to pay for ($90), you end up hounding them for students. They then only pay you 20 per hour and only $11 for testing. After you pay the paper and ink to print the test, the gas to get there, and the postage to send the test back, you end up making $5 -- to which they said they were not getting paid. They are making at least 65 per student per hour so how is that not getting paid?

There is no training -- only scattered bits of information sent by a woman who cannot even write complete sentences. I had to meet the owner at a coffee shop -- no office. I mean, what is really professional here?

When they first give you number of students to call, no one has vetted them for acurateness. Most agencies do their own. They send you the names and addresses that have not been vetted and you waste your time calling bad numbers. Then, when you finally go to a home, it is in a neighborhood so bad, you are a afraid to park, because no one checked anything out ahead of time like they are supposed to -- it is up to them to make sure the environment is okay to work in. We are at least entitled to a secure place to work.

After that, they want you to send in the report via fax or mail after you have absorded the cost of printing everything out. In your first week, plan to be financially in the hole. The state requires that these people give the employees the resources to tutor these students -- the tutors should not have to pay. They are only getting 20 of the usual 65 per hour that the company takes in. That means tutors get paid less than a third of what the middle man does. They don't care about the students -- they care about their bottom line. Tax payers should be angry and so should the Manatee County School Board and apparently, there are several complaints about this franchise. I have just started to make it known. We need to take our educational system back!
