CMC Chemical "Ron" Cold call regarding UPS claim over damaged shipment - of chemicals never ordered by us! Farmington, New Hampshire

"Ron" called from CMC Chemical 0830 today, advising his company had filed a loss claim against UPS for damage to a shipment we ordered of sewer degreaser last March. Ron provided the name of a retired employee, who hasn't worked in our Public Works Dept./been in charge of ordering anything since August 2008, as the person who made the order. Ron also asked for prompt payment on the invoice when it showed up, due to time loss from UPS' damage of original shipment. Ron provided me with 866-439-9096 and 16 Willow Rd, Farmington, New Hampshire 11562 as CMC's address.

Since we had obviously made no such order, and have in fact never done business with this company, I informed him any such delivery of unwanted and potentially hazardous materials to a Critical Infrastructure (and thereforeunder the juridiction of both ID Bureau of Homeland Security and Federal DHS)element of our City would be immediately reported. Ron seemed disenchanted by this revelation, and assured me he would investigate the issue, since it appeared it was on his end.
