*Consumer Comment: what phone # are they calling you from?
discovered a old bill on my reports from Sprint dated back in 2006, they say, and I have not ever had an account with Sprint. They won't validate the debt because they have no proof, but they won't have it removed from my credit reports. What can I do?

Paula,
You must do everything in writing, and by certified mail, return reciept requested. Put the certified mail, return reciept requested. Be sure to put the certified# on the letter itself and keep a copy for your records. This is very important for when it comes time to sue them.
By the means above, send a DEBT VALIDATION request to the collection agency where you clearly dispute the debt and demand to see whatever you allegedly signed to create the debt, as well as a full account history and itemization of charges.
Also, by the means above, send a dispute to each credit bureau and dispute for reason "not my account" and also demand to see all verifications provided in the dispute process as per your rights under the FCRA.
It will go away.
