Ok so I attended Collins college from 2003-2005 and I live in NY.. I was also promised jobs while I was down there and housing. But of course that didn't happen all they do is tell u here is a list and see if u can get a job and find a apartment. Also was told that all my financial aide was covered and no problems with my tuition. But after being there a week I get called in to find out that I don't have enough to cover and like any child would I turned to my parents first.
They try'd to help and Collins College told them to sign this Parent Plus loan for $5000 all via fax and that would keep me in school until we could find other means of payments and they wouldn't have to pay it back until I finished college. After my father faxed back the signed document less then a week later he gets a call from Sallie Mae trying to set up his payment schedules to pay back the $15000 that they are paying Collins College. So that is the first instance of them forging a amount and lieing about when the payments would start. So my parents called and had to cancel the loan but they had already paid Collins College the first installment of $5000.
The second time they pulled this same scam was with my student loan that was going pay the rest of the tuition. They told me I only needed $22000 to pay the rest of my tuition so I worked it out with them that I would pay my dads $5000 back so my loan was for $27000 and I was told I needed a co-signer for this federal student loan to get it approved so I went to my Uncle to co-sign. We got approved through Sallie Mae but of course I wouldn't find out any problems till I graduated. After graduation I try'd to consolidate my loans and found out that my student loan was actually a private loan with %19 interest... I was originally told it was going be about %4 because it was a student loan. So when I contacted Sallie Mae not only did I find out that it wasn't a student loan but a private loan that Collins College also didn't use any of that money to pay back my fathers loan like they were supposed to. So now both my father and I are sitting on loans that are out rageous  and expected to pay back.
I'm filing this complaint now more so then earlier because I just became un-employed and cant pay my loan and falling far behind on payments and when I contact Sallie Mae about the federal income based repayment program they told me my loan doesn't qualify because it's a private loan not a student loan even though it was borrowed through a known student loan lender... Some one help plz....
