I recently bought a Compaq laptop computer at a liquidation sale in Minnesota. (This was a display model)
The information on the table explained that this PC had 2GB ram and 260GB HD. The salesman told me to give him 20 minutes and he will install Office 2007 as a "bonus for me". I also purchased a monitor and he wrote a slip for for the total price but tried to charge my credit card $100 more. After signing about 4 different receipts, he claims to have it correct. (Still waiting to see my credit card bill). I got home and noticed that the PC only had 504MB ram and 50GB hard drive.
I returned to the sale the next day and asked him to show me where the 2GB ram and 260GB harddrive was and he told me that you can't see it but it will be there when you need it. He speaks broken english so I had a hard time understanding him. I was also told that this could not be returned, just exchanged.
He said for my inconvenience he will install an antivirus for me ( for free). This antivirus can be downloaded from the internet for free. I told him to box up my "junk" and I will just write it off as a stupid investment.
I was charged $349.99 for this piece of junk, and was disturbed to find out that I could have purchased the same PC (brand new) with 2GB ram and 260GB harddrive from Best Buy for $349.99.
I have tried to contact this company by phone and left messages but have heard nothing yet.
I would just like to thank you people for removing any trust I had in people like you.

Well, I have tried calling compu-electronics and probably left about 20 voicemails in a 2 months period! One miraculous day they FINALLY picked up and I got a hold of Alex. I told him that when I purchased my laptop it was supposed to have a dual core processor when in reality it only had a single core. I cannot watch videos on it and it is EXTREMELY slow. When I first bout the laptop I called the company to report this and they stated "No, it IS a dual core." Well when I spoke with Alex this time on the phone he said it actually is single core. I could NOT believe it! I have been fighting and fighting this with the company and NOW they are changing their mind!!!!!!! The gentleman gave me the name of Brian Mitchell who supposedly works for the company. I emailed them and never got a response. I have been calling and calling and calling and no one will pick up the phone. I am back to square one because no one will pick up the freaking phone!
DO NO BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH YOUR COMPUTER/GPS, ETC. YOU CAN'T EVER GET A HOLD OF THEM.
Compu electronics, the best way to build a customer's trust and retain their business is to actually DEAL with them, NOT avoid them. Absolutely ridiculous. You screwed me over at least $800!
You have my contact information that I have emailed numerous times and left many voicemails. IF you want to finally solve this call me. If not I will keep throwing your name out there as a completely untrustworthy company.
This is absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!

We need to be realistic!?

I honestly have lost all faith in your company after everything I have been through! Telling use to be realistic? I was realistically believing I trusted your company. I have tried to contact you guys on numerous occasions without a phone call back. I purchased a lap top from you guys at a vendor type event. The gentleman said the laptop had a dual core processor in it. I trusted him because had no idea how to look this up.
When I got home I did some research on Google and discovered there was only a single core processor! I immediately went back to the vendor and showed them what I had found: a Sempron processor that was only a single processor. Your company didn't believe me until I showed them the proof the very next day on my lap top. Your employees were hesitant and stated there was nothing they could do and to call the company. Well, your company was adamant that it was a dual core processor. I took the laptop to best buy, called HP, and even spoke with one of your representatives who all stated it was a single core processor. Later, after speaking with your company yet again, I was told the lady on the phone didn't know what she was talking about. You're company still persisted in stating it is a single core processor.
I recently bought a canon camcorder and the videos do not play smoothly on the computer. I called canon and they said it is because I have a single core processor! I am so frustrated with your company that no one was/is willing to help me. Yes, your company offered a 40% restocking fee if I returned it BUT I wanted what I paid for ON THE RECEIPT IT STATES A DUAL CORE PROCESSOR. I was not going to return a lap top that was NOT what I had paid for and pay for a restocking fee.
Your words on this site aggravate me because this is NOT how a company should ever do business. NO, I am not a customer that is saying my son broke my laptop and now I want my money back. I had proof which I simply showed your company the DAY AFTER I purchased it! The common person does not know how to look up the processing power, they just know to trust the person they are making business with. I did! That backfired with me as I did everything I should have and could have. I didn't wait weeks on end while using the lap top. I took it in the very next day with my proof.
You are directing use to "be realistic!?"

In rebuttal to the last comment.
First of all, our company should not have even talked to this "technician" if we knew in the first place that he was not our customer. What surprises me the most is that the actual customer have not even tried to call us!
Second of all, if indeed he was a "technician" he would have known the basics of computer industry and manufacturer warranty.
Calling our company and blaming us for: 1. Manufacturer refused to fix their laptops while they are under the warranty - really? And we deserve the negative review? Why do not you post a ripoff report for Acer then? Oh I know why - it is easier to blame a small privately owned company then a big CORP. 2. Their son smashed the laptop on the floor. "I want you guys to replace it now or we want our money back" (real citation from the phone conversation with the "technician") - really? you think any company will fix that? 3.The laptops now are worth less money ("could have easily been purchased at a Best Buy or Walmart for $750.00") - of course they are! With fast developing computer technology they will be worth even less in 6 more months, so will you complaint again?
"Seller Should STAND BEHIND EVERY PRODUCT THEY SELL !!!!! No Matter if it's 31 days or 1year warranty time. Even if they ADVOCATE between the Consumer and the Manufacturer. That's what I DO IN BUSINESS !!!" - oh I know why you do that - because they pay you for the assistance. I wonder if you'd do that if someone just walked in to you saying "hey, I want you to call the manufacturer for me, and I am not paying for that!"
To everyone who reads the posts: Our company is a reseller just like Best Buy, Micro Center, or any other retail store, not a manufacturer. Guess what, if you go to Best Buy in 6 months after the purchase date, do you think they will give you a refund or replacement? Be realistic here! They will tell you to call the manufacturer. That is right. Their return period (like ours) is 30 days. After that, the product is covered under the manufacturer warranty only and only, and the reseller does not take any responsibility for any malfunctions. Everyone knows that.
I am so deeply surprised that this so-called "technician" is so illiterate in simple issues like that. And posts like his are all over the Internet. Instead of posting nonsensical comments, people like him should have taken some college classes!

COMPU ELECTRONICS RIP OFF ARTISTS

I Feel bad for Both of you and EVERYONE else that has had to deal with these types of situations. Here it is April 2012 and STILL I see the complaints about this company in Cleveland Ohio. I Will Be doing EVERYTHING I can to STOP these types of "Artists" (rip offs) from Doing anymore Business in the State of New York as well. Anyone else want to jump on the "BAN" ??? Word of Mouth will eventually put them out of business if they don't change their policies and actually STAND BEHIND THE PRODUCTS THEY SELL !!!! I for 1 am an IT person and have a client / customer whom purchased not 1 but 2 Laptops from this Company who sold 2 Laptops for a total price of $1,318.00 when BOTH Laptops could have easily been purchased at a Best Buy or Walmart for $750.00. 1 Hard drive went bad / crashed in 1 month and the 2nd laptop LCD Burned out / overheated and Compu Electronics will not even advocate nor assist the client as a go between with ACER and the Consumer !!!! In my professional opinion, well lets just leave it at that, I'm DISGUSTED with any Computer Business that RIPS PEOPLE OFF with HIGH PRICES like this and then turns around and tells the CONSUMER "IT'S NOT OUR PROBLEM YOU NEED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER". Well Under Warranty they are correct, but they as the Seller Should STAND BEHIND EVERY PRODUCT THEY SELL !!!!! No Matter if it's 31 days or 1year warranty time, Even if they ADVOCATE between the Consumer and the Manufacturer. That's what I DO IN BUSINESS !!! I ATLEAST ADVOCATE and HELP THE CONSUMER / CLIENT !!!!!

You're story sounds almost identical to the situation I am in with this company. In situation I was told I was going to get a 64 x2 dual core processor but instead have only a single processor. I paid close to $700 and could have found this computer with the single core processor for about $250. Suspiciously everytime I call this company Robert is the only one that picks up. I have basically given up because I have invested about $300 of my own money and MUCH of my time wasted with this company. It has been an extremely upsetting, frustrating, and heart wrenching situation. You eventually come to the point of exhaustion and I am/have been there with this company. I am working on getting them banned from my state as well so they don't screw anyone else over...
Best of Luck to you! I know how it feels..

I am not a liar

I find it kind of funny that you would wait so long to rebut this. If you had read this you will see that I don't believe that I received the same computer that I "handpicked". I believe that when they said they would download the Office program (that is not on the computer), they switched it out for the "junk" that I currently have. I had tried numerous times over the next three weeks to one month to talk to someone in person. And when I did, I was told on numerous occassions that someone would call me back. No one ever did. "Robert" said he would send me an RMA and I had to call him 2 more times before he actually sent it. I guess after all of that I was just concerned that if I sent the computer to you for repairs, that I would never get it back. Right now it works good for a "paper weight". I am not a competitor and every word I said is the truth. I was going to forget about this and write it off as a stupid purchase, but after being called a "liar", I will do everything I can to keep you people out of this state.
Thank you for understanding

Dear Customer,
Just for the record, you would have been given an RMA for repair OR replacement. Please state the truth when listing these reports. The 7 days on the RMA form is just for your response time, NOT for the return time. I am baffled why you think that your computer is a "piece of junk" because you would have been the one that handpicked it out yourself. We don't sell or warranty any junk computers. It just wouldn't be worth our or anyone elses time to support or warranty such merchandise. Everything would have been working and tested prior to you buying your merchandise. If something doesn't work, then we simply stand by it and make things right. However, with all electronics and even computers, things can fail. That is why it was supported and warrantied. Just to help you with your so called "search for freedom" with buying from best buy, did you look at all of the horror stories here: http://www.ripoffreport.com/Search/best-buy.aspx
Please understand what your in for before "heralding" a certain company. Keep in mind we take pride into our service and merchandise. We will stand by it 100% and will offer repairs, replacements, and exchanges with little hassle within the company terms and conditions. We feel very bad that you didn't have a good experience with us, but we will work out every situation to the utmost possibilty.

I tried to contact this company by phone numerous times over the next month.
On a few ocassions I was able to speak to a real person who told me that she would have a service tech call me by the end of the day. I never received one phone call from them. One evening I got ahold of a service tech manager (Robert) and told him that I believe I purchased a new computer and it was switched out with an old one. He told me to give him my email address and he would send me an RMA to return this piece of junk and he would look at it and try to fix it. He did not send me an RMA until I tried to call him a few more times. Finally received the RMA and it stated that after (7) days the RMA is invalid. I started thinking that with all of their dishonesty, the chance of me getting my computer back were slim to none, and couldn't make it happen before the RMA expired. So I guess, they win. I will not spend another dime to fix this piece of junk that I could have bought brand new for the same amount that I have in it now. They screwed another customer and will continue to screw them until they are stopped. I am in the process of getting them banned from liquidation sales in Minnesota.
Again, thank you for destroying my faith in people like you.
