attention to anyone who has compuserve as an isp-i had compuserve for around six years. after the fourth year i decided to go with someoone else. i called them up, i don't think it was local unless i'm in dallas india, and they said they would drop the rate if i didn't cancel. so i stayed with them about another two years.

i decided i wanted dsl and compuserve couldn't help me, and so i cancelled my service. well i phoned, e-mailed, mailed. phoned, e-mailed , mailed over and over just telling them to cancel my service. i was talking to someone in india and they spoke english because they keep hounding me to stay, offering a lower monthly rate and the "prestige" of keeping my email address. on the nineth or tenth phone call, which they are very hard to get a hold of, i told them i would s p e a k s l o w e r i d o n o t w a n t y o u r s e r v i c e f o r 14.95 a m o n t h n o t e v e n f o r a d o l l a r a m o n t h i just want you to stopped charging me and they did about 7 months down the road. they want credit you even a penny. i was a customer for about 6 years and this is how they treated me. so if you use compuserve and want to ever cancel, you may want to start a year ahead of when you want it cancelled.

Proper way to cancel internet services cable phone exc.

AUTHOR: Brad - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 18, 2008

Simply put. I would like to cancel your service. The reason is none of your business and I have stated to you very clearly that i want to cancel. If you continue to charge my credit card or debit card or if you continue to take money out of my checking account. I will report you to my bank or credit card company for fraud. It is as simple as that. I have had Compuserve 8 years ago my very first internet service provider. I received a 400 dollars rebate for signing up for 3 years of internet at 24.95 a month. My mother had American Online for a couple of years. I called and canceled on her behave. I have had Vonage broadband phone company. I have canceled with them as well and also was able to get my cancellation fee waived.

By the way when i used compuserve and aol they was good for dial up at the time when highspeed wasn't available in very many places. Vonage i have gone back to they are awesome i would recommend them to anyone with good highspeed cable internet. You can do it with dsl but not as good and alot harder to set up.

Stop accepting offers to "continue service"

AUTHOR: Debi - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 08, 2005

The only reason it took you so long to cancel is because you kept accepting their offers to continue service at a lower price.

I've NEVER had any problems trying to cancel my account with their "mother company" AOL, and they were offering ALL kinds of incentives to stay on (free months, lower price, etc). It took me exactly five minutes for the CS to cancel my account from the time they asked for my account info to the time i hung up.

my mantra during the call

"Please, just cancel my account."
"Please, just cancel my account."
"Please, just cancel my account."
