I am a college student, and I received a phone call several weeks ago from a polite woman who said she was "following up" on some subscriptions I had made. Because I have practice at 4:45 every morning for my college rowing team, I often take naps during the middle of the day. Of course, this phone call awoke me from my sleep, and I told the lady that yes, the address for this phone number was correct. Then she called me "Kevin" (my name's Ben, which over the phone sounded close enough to Kevin), but I thought I had just misheard her and so I ignored it.

Today, I was called again at the same time of the day, and the woman asked me about making a subscription to Sports Illustrated. I had no clue what she was talking about, so I repeatedly asked "what?" She played me the recording made one year ago about this Kevin- previous resident of my dorm room- ordering an unsavory magazine from this company. I knew this had to have been a mistake, so I patiently (and I thought politely) waited through the long recording of the phone transaction so I could tell the polite woman she had made a mistake.

When she returned, she asked if that answered my question, and I said "excuse me ma'am, but I'm not Kevin." She then became very rude and said to me "listen young man, I don't have time for you to play games here. I'm going to alert my client about your actions." I tried to insert a reply, but she hung up, leaving me feeling rather molested and in fear of legal action.
