My son and I both got cars from Jackson Dealership in Waukegan and we got financed through the same finance company, Consumer Financial Services.  We don't deny that we are responsible for the loans.  Here are my issues with this company.  I paid off my car and now I have another car/car payment through another finance company.  My son is struggling to pay off his, he is unemployed right now and receives unemployment benefits.  They call non stop on the phone if he falls short of making a payment.  If they cannot get in touch with my son they call me.  They call me at work.  Ive asked twice for this company not to contact me at work.  I told them they could reach me on my cell phone.  I don't keep my cell phone on when I am working.  Noreen is the person in charge of the account.  I co-signed for my son so I am responsible as well.  According to Noreen that puts me in the driver's seat if my son cannot make a payment.  Noreen told me that she could call me at work because I didnt answer my cell phone.  I politely reminded her that she does not own my life just the loan.  She argued back when I dont answer my cell phone that she will call me again at work.  These people have lost their minds.  She went on to tell me since I was not cooperating when she was clearly trying to be nice enough to give us a chance to make a payment; that we were going to be sued.  That same day while I was still at work they knocked on the door looking for my son, he wasn't home.  They did not know whom the person was that answered the door and gave personal information to that person.  Neighbors tolds us later that they went around to the back of house looking around.  My son called them up and told them to come and get the car.  They said they would come and get it.  A couple days passed and they never came and got the car.  My son called again to ask when were they coming to get the car.  They said they didnt want the car they wanted the whole loan paid in full or they were going to sue us.   This is the worst finance company I have had the displeasure to deal with.  They are very unethical, dishonest, shady and they are liars.  I don't trust these people because they don't give/send out any statements non what so ever.  When I asked her if they had ever heard of the mail system, she got angry and threatned to sue.  See I have no idea what is going on with my son's account and trying to get any paper trail from these people is like me pulling out my own teeth (not going to happen).  I don't why they dont send out bills/monthly stating this is due on this date, this is what is owed and what has been paid.  If anybody knows of what agency I can talk to about dealing with a finance company that refuses to give out statements please let me know.

Odd. cfs told me they were in " litigation" with ogden motors and they tried to put someone faking to be a lawyyer on the phone. when i called back they cussed me out because i asked to speak to the owner and when i stated I was going to come in and ask for the manager they call berwyn police and lied and said that i said i was going to physically harm someone, and that they dont want me on their premises or ill get arrested. defamation of character at its finest. they are big time frauds. i referred two ppl to them and they havent appiled my credit 200 dollars per person. contact me. (((REDACTED))). we need to file a class action suit. secretary state police said they have thousands of complaints from them.

Consumer Financial Services IS a Double Scoop Hot Mess!

PissedOffMother,

Hindsight is always 20/20.  If this is the same company that is operating out of Berwyn IL, then you are in the midst of very clever criminal activity. I have a similiar situation at hand involving the intimidation tactics used by this company.

On June 5th I purchased a vehicle (2002 Buick Rendezvous) from Ogden Motors, Berwyn IL financed through Consumer Financial Services (CFS), with a "one year warranty on motor & trans". This was listed on the finance agreement itself, but no other documentation was supplied to explain the warranty or who covered it. When I asked for a description of the warranty, I was given a song and dance and bounced back and forth between Ogden Motors & CFS.

According to the advertisment and agreement, I had 60 days to pay the first note. Three days after the purchase I received a phone call from Cecilia (rep who handles my account) telling me that I have a car note due and when did I plan on paying it. Once I advised her of the committment to pay on August 5th, she placed me on a 7 minute hold and came back with, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience".

On July 7th, CFS deducted the car note from my bank account. After another phone call and chat with Cecilia (who placed me on another lengthy hold) she came back on the phone apologizing and hours later, the amount they withdrew was returned.

On July 12th, CFS did the same thing, deducted the car note but within hours it was returned to my account.

Around this time I started experiencing issues with the power stirring, gas gauge and gas pump. So I contacted CFS about the warranty on the motor & trans. They said the warranty was not theirs and directed me to Ogden Motors. After speaking to Ogden, I was instructed to take the vehicle to "Image Tires & Auto Repairs", also located in Berwyn, IL. They told me that there were five issues with the motor and that I'd need to get an approval from the dealership that I purchased it from, so I called Ogden back. Ogden pointed me to CFS and CFS redirected me to Ogden. It became a game of "hot potato" because noone wanted to own up to the warranty, even though the language is written on the finance agreement and mentions nothing about Ogden in this regard. Finally, CFS told me to take the car back to Image and they would make the repairs as per the warranty.

The car was in the shop for 1 1/2 weeks. I was told to come and pick up the car that following Saturday. On that Friday I called to see if everything was a go for Saturday and Image informed me that they had not made the repairs because they didnt receive an approval from "Tom" at CFS, who authorizes the payment of the said repairs. I then called CFS back and threatned them with breach of contract. Needless to say the vehicle was ready for pickup on Saturday, but they called me 30 minutes before they were about to close and didn't reopen until Monday.

On that Monday I went to retrieve the car and the mechanic told me that out of the list of repairs that needed to be done on the vehicle (which included both motor and trans), "Tom" of CFS only approved two things to be repaired. So ten miles on the way home the engine started to overheat and the vehicle shut off. This continued to happen all week. So on that Friday, I visited the office of CFS in Berwyn. Tom K**** told me that since I had not made a payment yet, I wasn't entitled to any repairs. I responded then why repair anything? He became beligerent and indignant and asked me, an African American, "do you know where you are?" in a very intimidating way. I knew exactly what he meant, because I was in Cicero, IL, who's reputation is notorious for racial intolerance. The conversation ended with him saying, "you made no payments, so you get no service". So I left.

Today, August 4th, CFS went back into my account, one day early and withdrew the car not. The money will not be available until tomorrow, so it put my account in overdraft.

After investigating I found that Ted K****, a relative of Tom K**** once owned Teds Auto Line at the same location as Ogden Motors. Apparently, Ted and Tom had a fallout which resulted in Case#2012-L-003789 in Cook County IL. There are at least five lawsuits in progress against CFS and Ogden Motors.

My advice is to stay far away from either of these companies and to do your homework before signing any agreement. They do not honor their agreements or word are galactic liars and the person who is in charge of my account (Cecilia V*****), I've discovered is related to the former owner (Carlos & Camilo V*****) of the vehicle that I now drive. I believe the car is a lemona and that they knew it from the jump and the intimidation tactics to get me to pay early before they close their doors is suspect.

BTW: Ogden Motors, as of this date 8/4/15 has a notice on their front door and they are not permitted to sell vehicles as per the City of Berwyn. Both managers of Ogden Motors quit for non payment of wages and didn't have anything nice to say about CFS, who actually owns/is affiliated with Ogden Motors.  It is also known that they are attempting to change the name of Ogden Motors and plan to DBA another entity, which is not available at this time.

All of these entities are crooks of the highest order. Be aware.

Did it dawn on you that if the payment was made per the agreement,  THEY WOULD NOT HAVE TO CALL YOU AT WORK????

Like stated before, they loaned you thousands of dollars for this car, they weren't so bad then were they???

You said your son wanted them to come get the car, do you you think the loan goes away then? Not only do you still pay off what is left after it is sold, you can tell your son good luck if he wants to ever get another car. Or house for that matter.

You guys are on the hook for the car...PERIOD!  Your son asks for a repo!  Are you aware what a repo is and the affects to YOU the co-signer?  Does it matter?  Have you ever told your son to get up off his a*s and get a job...any job...so he has money coming in to PAY HIS BILLS so that your credit isn't damaged by this repo?  Or does the word "sorry" describe you?

INCREDIBLE!!!

There are 24 hours in a day, I DONT work 24 hours a day.  As I stated this company does not send any correspondence out in the mail.  Beside I told these people what my work hours are; they could have called after I get off of work.

You have to wonder..

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 21, 2010

You do really have to wonder who has lost their mind.

Here we have a person who admits responsibility for the loan, they admit that they co-signed for the loan, they know that the son is having trouble making payments.  Then they tell the company to call them on their cell phone, which would be fine except for the little problem, they don't answer their cell phone.

Yet after all of this they claim that the company that loaned them SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS and to whom the OP made a LEGAL AGREEMENT that they would make timely payments on the loan, is the one that is "unethical" and "dishonest".

Anyways don't worry.  If you get delinquent enough the car will be reposessed.  They will sell it at auction, and you will still owe the deficency balance.  If you refuse to pay that deficency balance they will most likely sue you.
