I lived in my house in Pearland, Tx for 4 years where I had my monitoring service with Counterforce. Thanks to the new economy I had to move to Atlanta where I got a better job. My house would not sell and even thou I didn't have phone service connected I kept on paying Counterforce until the end of my contract in November of 2009. By the time I called to cancel my account it was too late. A contract that I signed 5 years ago stated that my account would renew automatically if I didn't give a one month notice. Really? After 5 years you expect us to remember that? So not only do I get stuck paying 13 months of mortgage for a house that wouldn't sell but I also have to be taken advantage of by the Monitoring Service company that is supposed to be protecting me from burglars. They just keep repeating how it is all in the contract. Obviously they suck so much they have to make you sign a 5 year contract and not remind you of your renewal. Are they afraid you might not want to renew?
I really don't think that these are the best times to be taking advantage of people, we definitely have enough struggles and problems to have to worry about the alarm company stealing from us. Don't get me wrong, I understand that business is business but also fairness is fairness. 75% of the remaining of a contract that automatically renewed itself is a total Ripoff. I wasn't about to move my service to another company and I did fulfilled my original 5 year contract. A little understanding and willingness to help people never hurt anyone. I moved my family to another city for a possible better life and they are essentially punishing me for it.
Just beware before you sign anything with them....
